just reading this thread makes me want to buy the 70-200mm... :nono:

Hi Guys,

I will like to hear from you...as I find that it looks very intrusive to use it for street or portrait.

P.S - Besides low light and for fast shutter...leave the technical aspect out.

Many Thanks ;)
as many have already commented, this lens is good for pretty much anything under the sun, the f2.8, VR, and reach to 200mm make it an invaluable lens for many. i have used it for sports, events, concerts, street, candid, and weddings... but i have seen ppl also like to use it at the zoo, mount close-up filters / extension tubes to do macros, add a TC when they go on a safari, use it to take models on the catwalk...

let;s all go buy this lens together and ask for discount

Count me in :)

Portraits, portraits, portraits! love it! Indoor events too and sports! Razor sharp.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I bought it at CP. The price has significantly fallen.

lol, i cant help but notice our lens serial numbers are only a few hundred away from each other. Mine's 391416.

if it's much lighter and smaller I would use it as a walk about multi purpose lens

It can do portrait superbly, it can do sports, it can do stage, with a extension tube it can do good macro.

Bokeh is really nice, I think better than the 85mm F1.4 imo.

People may find it intrusive if we go round shooting with such big lenses...don't you get stares?

is it easy to find a new one in grey/white in SG or HK?

Using the 70-200mm as the walk around lens now in japan.
Not much stares, maybe still not long enough to turn heads, in japan that is :bsmilie:

But it is a great lens, still amazes me with the IQ and bokeh. will show more when i return

I used to think that the 70-200 is heavy until I started using the 300mm F2.8 :bsmilie: It is a joy now to just grab the 70-200 and go shooting  what a beautiful piece of equipment at such an astonishing quality.

In fact, people find it more intrusive when you shoot street or people with a 85mm or a 50mm because the 70-200 can give you the distance and you shoot more discreetly. With a 85mm or a 50mm, you need to go up close which will immediately give you intention away and people usually will shy away from the camera and becomes less natural. ;)
