yes, i'm an existing 5dmk2 user for a fact

anyway, price will always drop, that's inevitable, and we buy cameras to shoot, not for capital appreciation. so as long as it's clocked sufficient actuation to justify the initial outlay, there's really no reason to grumble about any "loss".

just my 2 cents.

Agrees fully. Imagine I bought my new 5DII just 2 weeks before the huge drop in price after selling my used 5DII. It's about what we perceived the camera is worth, then we buy. Loss? Everything depreciate these days. :bsmilie:

What's wrong with students using high-end cameras? Why is it a nightmare? They are using there own cameras, they can do what they want.

Just visited Canon showroom this afternn, first time there after their reno.. There was a 5DII with L kit lens for us to "try" wor.. last time only up to 50D on display if Im not wrong..

YEAHH! i got my 5DMKII! woohoo! bought it at $3199 at paris silk (lazy to go mscolor) since same price.... but only thing is... i need to go back to collect the box again cos the shop sell me the kit set one (the shop takes back the kit)... anyway they quoted me $113 for the original battery... this price good?

Hey people, relax a while yeah? If a secondary school student has a 1 series, it might be his/her parent's. I know many people who share their gear, be it photo, video, music, sports etc within their own family.

Anyway, assuming the 3.3k pricing stays, how soon do you think the second hand market will even out and give a good sub 3k pricing?

shld be pretty soon...i could have have just sell sub 3k and buy a new one then to renew the warranty..hmm...that is the pain i feel...

I agree to the fact student sure can't afford ex cam unless family sponsor..but i have nothing against them owning one...is their $$$....why want to rule them off....everyone start somewhere...last time sch kids wear swatch, wear casio G shock...now i see some wearing rolex and tag heuer...i rather spend the time thinking how to make more $$$ or better photos than to grumble some youth with expensive pro gears....so what? if nobody spends...economy will be screwed...and u guys think most ppl still can keep their job? i remember someone wanted to give or sell his 85L real cheap just to be able to get a job awhile back...

i went to HV to buy... weird... i also got a quote from the gal who told me over the phone its $3167... but i go there the guy say $3199 anyway since same price as mscolor, then forget it... just get at $3199.

Indeed, pretty sure even if you have only a few weeks of warranty left, people won't mind paying like 2.8k for it and you can get a brand spanking new one by topping up less than 400.

How did selling his 85L help him to get a job anyway?

Ok, now I think I got what you meant. Just like back in my time, a pager is consider a luxurious item, now a lot of students are already carrying iphones.
