5Dmk2 $3.3k with GST

Also need to consider support costs too as i'm sure you need extra parts and also support staff, technicians, call centre etc...

Oh RnD would also include salaries for employees, contractors etc... that needs to be included into the price too.

Hi,

The lowest price for a brand new local set 5DMKII body is 3168 with GST?

rgds,

i guess this is life... just like stocks, never the best time to buy.

i bought mine first few days of jan, wife encouraged me hard to go for it. i think i have been much happier taking photos since i have the camera so i still think it was worth it, otherwise we couldn't go out taking photos together with 2 cameras. heart pain, a little yes.. but no point harping on it, the camera has its value in our hearts when we decided to pay for it, if it becomes cheaper subsequently it just helps others to reach that point that they also decide to pay for it, it shouldn't diminish that value. happy or not the price has been paid, the camera has been bought, so love it more since it costs more ;p

you are a lucky man, wife encourage you for your hobby or business, i guess most of the man here need to hide the receipt from wife...;p

There is a trick. I used to be in the same situation until my wife starts to buy diamonds. Of course I started buying diamonds for her in the beginning and taught her how to select quality diamonds. So now, I get to buy equivalent values of photographic equipment as her diamond. ;p She also suddenly learn how to appreciate quality lenses just like normal diamond and the "special" diamonds.:bsmilie:

Curious, so now do you buy a diamond for her every time you purchase an quality lens? :dunno:

If that's the case I rather be the receipt hiding man :P

No, once she gets hooked...she buys it herself!:bsmilie: Just have the initial investment of about $10K or so....then you will be freed!

Haha... S$10k is still lower than some would spend on their photography equipment. :bsmilie:

Just an update, MSColor selling 5D2 @ $3180 with GST.

SLR Revo selling 5DM2 @ $3168 with GST

it is obvious they are facing very tough competition, the underdogs are putting great pressure on these incumbents to hold their market share in the global market, only way to survive is keep making better DSLR faster and faster...

the poor and low-cash consumers are going to suffer as they need to buy, buy and buy just to catch up.

Bought at RM 6,700 from Hike Enterprise in Penang (along Penang Road opp KOMTAR), or SGD 2,913!

For $200 diff I will opt for local warranty set.

For those that offen travel into JB, the S$200 saving is worth it bacause Malaysia Canon is offering 3 years warrenty on DSLR body and lenses. Nearest Canon service centre is in Taman Molek.
3 years warrenty is much superior than 15-mth. But a bit troublesome if need to send for service.

Whatever price you are paying, enjoy the 5D2. It is no use comparing prices every now and then. There is only one way prices of consumer electronics will go. IMO, 5D2 is the camera that you can use for years, minus the bells and whistles of whatever is going to be thrown into camera bodies in the near future.

After owning the camera for almost 2 years, I still have not learnt to use the camera for every situation with ease and speed. I guess it will take me another 5 years to learn it all. The returns are satisfying. It is the lenses that are killing me.
