hi guys, noticed something odd about my camera, dunno if you guys can shed some light...

i prefer to have my camera set to release priority (purple menu, page one, 1st choice: priority setup), ie if i press the button, it takes the photo even if the AF hasn't locked. but i find that the camera keeps switching back to AF priority by itself. why does this happen and how do i keep it in release priority?

thanks!

Yup .... tried setting release priority, but when switched off then on again, goes back to AF!

Is it a bug???

oh, so i am not alone. i thought i have accidentally reset it back.

but mine is definitely not resetted by switching on/off the cam. cos i just set it back to RP yesterday and did a check this morning, still there

i recollect to have done 2 "main" actions,
1) took out the battery to charge and waited for some time before popping in the second battery
2) was using A mode, but went to Auto mode to try, AND change some settings (didnt notice what is the release setting), then back to A mode. realise the RP resetted and set it back and till now.

have any of you actually read the owner's manual?? i have but don't recall seeing any of this although if you use program mode and switch to apperture or shutter priority the settings default back to standard. i would assume its the same for some of these settings... bug or not, the manual sucks...

:thumbsd:

Yeah, this setting switch back to AF whenever I turn off and turn on again. No doubt about that and wondering why....:dunno:

That is for auto mode only.

pg41

By the way you all shoot in Auto???

It's a bug for sure .....we demand a firmware upgrade from KM .......

mine is working fine. try setting to other modes other than auto..

suggest you guys with the 'bug' try to reset all the settings in the camera menu and try again.

Does A/S consider as Auto mode?? :dunno: Didnt take note when on M though.

just tested on my cam. the RP is resetted once i remove the battery.

it does not get resetted by

1) on/off the cam
2) unmount and mount the lens
3) switch to Auto and back. i am always on A mode by default

i went to read Pg41, it states that the priority switches to AF in Auto mode. not necessarily stay that way once back to other modes. anyway it seems the removal of battery reset this setting, at least thats what happened to mine :dunno:

Wah ... like that this "feature" not consistent leh!

for the rest of you who RESET other than AUTO MODE, better go get some check-up.

I normally use Apperture mode, in any case if you want to override the AF, then use your left hand to switch the camera to full Manual and just fire away. No need to worry about these silly settings, although I will test my 5D and let you know if i get the same results. Just don't forget to switch back to "A"uto when done. Happy creative shooting! ;)
