5D... water inside... :'(

How on earth did he manage to hit your bag and manage to get away scot-free? You didn't hold him back or something? Perhaps you could give us a more detailed explanation of how this happened? Sorry if I may seem kaypoh, but I'm really curious as to how this happened.

So sad and unfortunate incident befell on your 5D. It's a classic cam and a very rare item nowadays. Hope
it will recover.

Actually, it's not the classic one... it's the 5D mark2... with attached EF 24-70 2.8L lens... soo really depress now....

This is how it happened... friday, 6 january on my way back to work offshore.. we were supposed to go by helicopter but the weather didn't permit us so the second option was to go by boat.. on the jetty, when our names were called, we straight went to the gang way as per instruction and waited there for boarding. while waiting, all the crew's stuff are in the middle of the gangway. we were at the railings looking the boat. passengers come and go the gangway.. there's quite a few of them there passing. the last thing i knew was i heard a tumbling sound and when i look back my bag was on it's way to the water already "summersulting"... Ask the guys to get the stick to grab hold my bag but it took them (operator) damn 5 mins to hand over to me the stick... and the bag already, was way out of reach due to strong current.... so the bag float for another 3 mins or so (totally about 10 mins in the water). when i open the bag, water was half full inside...

wtf. the person that knocked over your bag is a big dick!

anyway, how goes the rice thing?

i think if the water gets out of the 2470 also will have some stains left. hopefully can salvage some stuff.

I tried to power up my camera today... upon putting the battery, the red indication light was flickering. Even without turning On yet.. When i turn On, the same thing flickering.. no displace on lcd, tried to press shutter button, no action at all... sigh.... just totally cannot... i guess i'd rather wait another 3 weeks or so to send it to CSC...

bad luck..

it's not going to be cheap, I'm guessing. do update.

Sorry to hear the sad news. 3 weeks is a very long time. Just send it to any Canon service center ASAP.
Was it sea water that flooded the camera?

Why not send to third party repair shop get them to dismantle and dry up the camera? Dry on it's on or in rice may be too slow and pcb boards or metal parts corroded already.

Sounds like yr stuff fell into the sea n not like a river? Salt water is bad. I read in another thread that a last ditch solution for salt water submersion is to flush out with fresh water asap to minimize corrosion before drying it...but this is a bit moot now.

Quite costly to repair the 5D2. It will cost about 4 digit figure to replace the all the electronic components. Probably have to get a new one.

Condolences to your camera, MBP and iPad.

Alamak... My heart pain for you TS... That stupid idiot who knocked over your bag is a big dick head... Grrr...
