Well, you sure can bitch, whine, complain, brag, pixel peep better about nothing I guess.....

with >5,000 posts here, i thought you would have learnt something about netiquette. some people are slow learners I guess! :bsmilie:

Check this link at asia cnet.

Even some pros are concerned that these black dots may result in their photos being rejected by photostock companies.

Looks like Pixel Peepers aren't the only ones concerned. :nono:

This involves the professional photographers' rice bowl as well.

The only ones who will deny that are the fanboys here who will turn a blind eye to any faults and consider any small criticism of their beloved camera bitc***g or whining. These are the type of customers that camera companies love and the reason why companies keep coming out with sub-standard products with no motivation to improve!

Then obviously, you dun know how to apply the knowledge of your statistical studies.

66 pp replying to a poll of approx 3000 members or more based on this thread is hardly statistical truth. And that is including not knowing the demographics of the pp who polled.

well, if you want to wait for all 3,000 members to vote on the poll, good luck! :bsmilie:

I think this is indeed a problem that Canon ought to address it soon. However, I've not notice or been affected by this problem so far. My guess is that it has got to do with some bugs in the algorithm that wrongly process the clipping highlights resulting in an overflow of the calculated values, hence the black dots. If that is indeed the cause, it can probably be fixed via firmware updates. :)

Oh give me a break... of all people, you talk about netiquette?? Do you even know what that means?

Unfortunately or fortunately, I am not a fanboy if u think I am. I hate the Canon speedlight system and in place of it I am using the Nikon Speedlight SB800 and SB900 even though I am using Canon's bodies.

Oh by the way, since u are talking abt sub standard products, look at Nikon when they first launched the D100 (look at the price tag at that time) and u will know why majority of the Nikon film users shifted to Canon digital.

Note : No offense to Nikon cause their technology have caught up with Canon and I would say on par.

Yes, I do. But I am sure you don't. Either that or you don't apply it.

Guess for those who use this camera for earning, then this could be issues to consider. Just get the top model and get on with life or carry on with the earlier model and wait for the next replacement model.

If CANON is not going to do anything, will those who have purchased sell off their priced lens and accessories and join the 'N' or 'S' camps.

I like faconlite saying ... let your needs guide you... And to addon... let your needs guide you what is available best at the moment.

My 1 cent worth opinion...:)

I think its time someone notify the moderators in the Nikon forum to come and claim a runaway property. Keep it under watch and leash.

I am not depending Nikon or criticising Canon. I hope everyone realises that. Lots of people I know, including my brother, shoots Canon. Both have come up with good and bad products. If both companies can come up with great products, then all the better for us photographers. If I had known of any issues with the D300 before I bought it, I would have certainly raised it in the Nikon forums. A camera is just a tool - no need to surrender to blind loyalty. If I did not have an interest in getting the MkII, I would not have bothered following any of the Canon threads.

Looks that THAT's the best you can do - run and call for help when it was YOU who started out with the personal insult by calling people green (post #99, btw)!

You have certainly demonstrated your understanding of netiquette!

It just amuses me to see you being thick skinned enough to stay here for so long but taking it as an insult when being called green.....

Agree on this. Blind brand loyalty is a no no. With competition, both C and N has improved their weaknesses. Canon has improved their colours tremendously with the Digic 3 and above Systems coming close to Nikon to compete with their green and red tones (personal opinion). Nikon has improved tremendously with their noise control (D300 and above).

My personal issue with this dot system was never abt loyalty. I am trying to get photographers to look beyond the dots like whole composition, colours, perspective, etc. The dots in my opinion only affect certain group or type of photographers. Overplaying the issue would get pp to start looking for pixels which may not affect the whole composition and is barely noticeable unless u pixel peep.

Wow all this traffic for a few black dots. Time to cool off and take it easy

My apologies to those who came to this thread genuinely wanting to find out more about the black spots issue. My intention was just to share my research and present this real issue to potential buyers of the 5D Mk II so they can make a decision whether it will afect their type of shooting knowing the facts. Unfortunately, this thread has become infested with fanboys who refuse to hear of any problems with their beloved camera and who would rather mutilate themselves before admitting an error of their favourite equipment. I don't have time for such people.

I am here because I have a genuine interest in this issue. But I really don't know why YOU are here!

So you leaving? Good riddance.
