Well then, if your constant whining is neither useful nor intelligent, then anyone can add anything to the thread and it should not make any difference whatsoever. :bsmilie:

You can certainly write whatever you want. Why should I stop you from making a fool of yourself?

And no one can stop you from your non-stop whining either. :bsmilie:

I guess you are still too green here to realise that these polls tell you nothing at all...

Well, I realise that your post tells me that you have no class when you can insult someone that you don't even know!

You have something better than that?

walaooee... is this really HD quality video of 5dmk2?... if this is really from 5dmk2.. this is really bad.. looks like the lamps got nipple..

Aside from the black dot, the real quality is better 3-4x, so much that the actual vid is quite a mouthful to edit with existing windows system

If this is your idea of intelligent conversation, I am going to bed. Good night.

So, I suppose all your arm-chair talk and whining help Canon resolve the issue and is considered constructive/intelligent. :bsmilie:

Too bad, I have had fun playing with you, like a father plays with a 5-year old kid but after a while, even kids can get tiresome because they have such a limited vocab and they keep saying the same things over and over like a stuck record. :bsmilie:

Ha ha, you are right!

More worrying, this defeats the selling point of the 5D Mk II having video. Canon better come up with a solution quick or they will lose a lot of customers.

Actually, nobody, including me, is trying to magnify the problem! The OP (or TS) asked if there was really a black spots issue and I responded objectively with samples after doing my research on the net. For those who could not see the black spots, I have helped to point them out so that they know if their camera has the same issue.

Unlike fanboys who brush away the whole thing as making a mountain out of a molehill, I have not made any all-encompassing statement. Instead, I have always stated that, whether this is an issue or not depends on what you shoot. You can't speak for everyone based on your own perspective.

To someone who does a lot of night shots, it may be a deal killer. To others it may not matter at all. To 50% of the potential buyers of this camera, this issue is of concern enough to make them defer their purchase - see the poll thread.

Let me take your quotes,
"Canon should have expected that many buyers of this range of cameras will be the ones relying on it for a living and will be those inspecting their photos at 100% to ensure they deliver the best quality."

"If you don't worry about detail...then why do you need to buy a 21 MP, full-frame camera?? Unless people are doing seriously large prints there aren't too many compelling reasons for a HUGE, high MP full-frame camera's "detail.""

"If you don't need big prints...or serious cropping...you don't need that kind of detail and you don't need a 5DII. If you only take photos in bright daylight and only print postcard-sized photos, a good P&S like the LX3 will give photos that are almost as good as those taken with a DSLR."
The last statement is an absolute statement which is representation of your assumption and opinion.

Based on the above,
Aren't u speaking for pp based on your own perspective? And for all I know, u dun even depend on your camera for a living and yet speaking for them.

I use words like majority or most which does not constitute everyone or 100%. My views are based on my personal interactions with other professional photographers and interaction with my customers. The use of majority may not be accurate per se but it is the perception I get in my few years of interaction. I also presented different reasons in getting a full frame camera other than the megapixel count. I think some forumers are right. I think u need help in your semantics.

I think u also need help in your statistical studies. I have not seen the poll that u mentioned. But based on the polls conducted in clubsnap, it is seldom reflective of the whole community in clubsnap. Adding to that, it also does not include the type of photographers who submit the poll. Who are the ones surveyed? What is the age group? Hello, go back to your statistical studies.

By the way, professional photographers who go for very outstanding quality and high paying still stick to their medium format and digital backs.

That's why I said MANY and NOT all! Who needs help in semantics? :bsmilie:

If you have not seen the poll, why even bother to comment?

As for statistics, I finished my studies long ago and I did very well in that subject, thank you.

It's better than what you have!:bsmilie:

Well, you sure can bitch, whine, complain, brag, pixel peep better about nothing I guess.....

Wow all this traffic for a few black dots. Time to cool off and take it easy

Then obviously, you dun know how to apply the knowledge of your statistical studies.

66 pp replying to a poll of approx 3000 members or more based on this thread is hardly statistical truth. And that is including not knowing the demographics of the pp who polled.

Canon preparing announcement regarding EOS 5D Mark II "black dots" problem
Friday, December 12, 2008 | by Rob Galbraith
In a brief interview today, Chuck Westfall, Technical Advisor at Canon USA, stated that Canon is preparing an announcement that addresses the EOS 5D Mark II "black dots" problem being widely discussed on Web forums since shortly after the camera's release late last month.

While Westfall is not yet able to divulge precisely what the announcement will say, he characterized it as good news for owners of Canon's newest digital SLR, and that the announcement is expected soon.

Earlier this week, Westfall first tipped the fact that Canon was aware of the problem in a post on The Digital Journalist: "Watch for an official Canon comment on this issue in the very near future."

And by the way, did I ever claim that you said for everyone?
