if some people are excited about a new camera, no need to pour cold water.
Whether true or not, comments like "it won't help you take better photos" are uncalled for.

Besides, that statement isn't completely true.
Whereas it may be true that creativity, a photographic eye, the drive to search out the best times and locations are independent of the camera used,
the TECHNOLOGICAL AIDS do help the photographer capture those shots. So in a way, a better camera can help you take better pictures.

The 'skill' of creativity may in fact be separate from the technical skill of handling a camera. An expert from the days of manual exposure/focus may be able to capture a shot, but not necessarily be creative. Likewise a photographer who is reliant on auto AF/exposure/flash etc, can still be very creative.

Faster AF (low light, speedy, accurate, no hunting), higher ISO sensitivity, greater resolution, live view, dust reduction, bigger, brighter viewfinders, resistance to rain and dust, larger LCD, ability to display those images via HDMI on hi-def TV and so forth.... just help him do the job better. What's there not to desire? I liken it to cars. A good driver delivers his passengers quickly and safely to destination. But automatic gears, power steering, power brakes, ABS, etc, help all drivers better 'deliver the goods'. Better automation breaks down the technical barriers to good photography.

Personally, I very much look forward to a 5D Mk II, and would buy it.
Unless of course I already own a 5D or bought one recently, then I would rationalise to myself that a new MkII won't make a difference to me...

I think a 5D MkII will sell well. Even better than the MkI.

It may not be. The 5D is selling hot now. I don't think you will get the new 5D Mark II any cheaper than current 5D price. I predict the 5D Mark II should be > 4k when first launch and drop to 3.5k within a year ;)

i wont be getting the first batch.. at least after a year later, then do shopping..

Wasent the 5d approx 4.5-5k when it first came out? The 5d II(hypothetical) should be around that price too

then 5D will drop to 3K (retail price) with lots of freebies :)

I think it was abt 5.6-5.9 when it was released

A question.....

How many here would 'Jump The Gun' and get the 1st 5D Mk II shipment that comes out..... and do real life QC for Canon..... :bsmilie:

I would! ... if they agree to give me a 45% rebate off retail for doing that!
:sweatsm:

Spoke to someone from Canon, and the respond is "huh? 5DM2??"

If it cost lower than when the 1st 5D comes out...... call it whatever you want.... :bsmilie:

just tell the specs n price, call is 50000D if canon wants~~

If the specs are genuine, this is the very first camera that ever makes me drool all over and a catalyst to work harder for it.

wah.... drool worthy if the price is about $3+ K.
If I run Canon, I would most likely try to up the specs and price it closer to N's D3, give it a run for the money.
..and name it 3D as proposed by 'akdwivedi'. hehhe..
though keeping the name as 5D mkII is still good.

1 week more to go?

A fellow that I know paid S$6,688 for it when it first came out. He was one of the first to get it from Cathay!
