I bought a cheap rubber one from CP more than a year ago from CP at $5.

thats really cheap, rubber?

I'm looking for one too, for my S602... :)

Watch it...better test for vignetting at wide before purchase.

Especially when its 52mm.

Thanks for the heads up. :)

I'm interested to get 1 for my S602Z too.

Not sure if there is a flower type for 52mm?

Have used the 55mm rubber hood before. Yes, there is vignetting at wide.

Nikon has a nice metal one called HN-2 which can be used on its various prime lenses (28 F2.8, 50 F1.4D etc). Should be able to use on the 602 as well with little vignetting.

Hmmm... and how much would it cost? :)

Bought mine from FotoGuide for $20 about a year and a half back.

Thanks. :)

Hoya makes a rubber one for like $5 that can be adjusted (pull or push on the rubber) for wide/normal/tele. It is called "Hoya Multi Lens Hood".

whats the purpose of a lens hood? to prevent lens flare or something like that?

regards

Same here, only used it once and chucked it aside after that.;)

I think the above mentioned Hoya Multi Hood cost more than $12 the last time I asked. For rubber hood, it has the best material, it doesn't get sticky in our climate. The widest setting is 35mm, longest is above 70mm. The medium setting is not so easy to adjust to.

I like rubber hoods, it helps to protect the lens against hard knocks too and it can be retracted. It also let you press your lens against glass (without the owner complaining) for those through the glass shots.

I have a HN-2 on my 28/2.8, it is very shallow and might not suit your lens.

I have a lens hood on every lens I use. Improves contrast, reduce flare, some protection of front element from light rain, sea spray. As mentioned before, knocks on the lens.

thanks for the input guys ;)

And where can it be bought? :)

I bought mine (62mm) from Fotoguide last month. I believe Ruby also carry it but was out-of-stock. Actually, I think it was only recently imported as I was looking for it last year but nobody (even Cathay) sells it. There is another brand, can't remember the name, that has the wide setting at 28mm. As usual, us Singaporeans can only know about it unless we want to order it from B&H in USA with the steep shipping cost.
