i believe it won't make much different

but on a 1D/1Ds...the different may be more significant

if i am not wrong, both CF also rated 25x

Apacer 512MB 31X @ $320. SLS 5th flr.

Ridata 512 Mb 20X @ $300, AP.

Btw, 2 x Ridata 256 Mb (20X) @ <=$280, AP.

Additionally, if you format the Ridata card with a sector size of >8192, it becomes much faster.

how to format oo? i'm using cp5700

RAM/SSM prices are pretty volatile nearer to the end of the year and during festive season. Demand is tighter, hence the stiff price.

I will not go into how much my EDO RAM cost me in '95. ;]

Can someone elaborate on this?

I just bought a Transcend 512MB 25X card, but I'm pretty disappointed with its performance, speed-wise. It's about twice as slow as my Transcend 256MB card.

Help!

Pardon me, but how to you measure the speed; "about twice as slow as my Transcend 256MB Card"??

Well, what I did is to take 8 continuous shots of the same subject, and time how long it takes for the buffer to empty its contents into the cards.

30 secs for 512MB card, and 15 secs for 256MB card.

Can someone then lend me their Transcend 512MB and see wat is the write speed on my Oly 5050?

I am currently quite happy with the speed of my NCP 256MB. It takes about 2 sec to write each shot. Thinking of getting a 512 and heard that transcend is fast. And furthermore has 5 year warranty. Ridata and all the others got no warranty.

Is there any relation between card speed with the type of a camera, eg: DSLR, Point&Shoot?

I mean, do we really need a bleeding high speed of card? My camera is G3, and I am just a casual shooter. Very seldom use a continuous shooting. Am I right to say that writing speed only will affect those that use continuous shooting alot?

What is the minimum ideal speed for a casual shooter? I dont even know what is the speed from the card given to me when I bought G3, its a SanDisk card. Anyone know?

I think it's 16x unless it's an Ultra 24x?:dunno:
