Inflation and a lack of new lens to replace the 50mm f/1.8 will mean that your lens will become more expensive over time.

Besides, it is a mere $20 more. If you are truly after the lens, $20 really isn't all that hard to swallow.

the 50mm f1.8 is the best value for money lens, especially for starters and intermediates. the lens can be good enough for the pros, but they won't use it because they will not look pro with a cheap lens, although there is not much to fault for this lens against the more expensive ones.
