50mm f1.8

It will affect how much to sell 2nd hand for those who bought at $99. If sell with warranty, need receipt mah. So can't sell at $99 as it is used. Prolly worth $60-70 at most.

I want to buy 1, so if anyone bought and dont like the lens, pls pm me hor. I offer $70.

I doubt anyone will sell you for $70, must as well keep till warranty expire and sell $100. :D Maybe this promotion has ended already, because the last time I bought a few days ago, they say only left with 10 pieces only.

Anyway, canon warranty dont need receipt one. just warranty card will do. No warranty card also nevermind, they can check from the system.

No receipt how to verify date of purchase? If the lens is an old stock like sitting in the shops for 6 months, they will base on the system date to estimate the warranty. So in that way, you lose out a few months of warranty if you are unable to provide the receipt.

This is what Canon told me when I sent in my lens for repair without receipt as I forgotten to bring them. Btw, I have registered the online warranty but they needed the receipt as well. Luckily they were willing to waive off the repair charges when I provided the receipt when I collect back my lens after the repair.

I guess it depends on the staff attending to you. I've sent in pns, dlsr and lens for servicing on several occasions. Some of the front counter staff asks for receipt while some don't. Perhaps Jennyfur80 met the staff who goes by the book.

Looking at the online warranty, its the consumer who enters the data and is open to abuse - some may post date the purchase. To be on the safe side, an official receipt will be your best bet.

I had repaired a canon FOC before without any receipt. Just tell the service officer the receipt throw away already, but system can check when the warranty was registered. You can have the receipt, but if never register the warranty , also it will be void. Maybe you told them you did not bring, that's why ask you to bring next round.
You want it at $70 with warranty? havent seen any historical post at such low prices

+1

CSC never ask for receipt. They just key in the serial number of the lens or camera into the system and all info is there already.

Hi just to report. Am at harvy Norman funan now. The 50mm f1.8 is still in stock, they sold over 30pcs today!! And it is indeed at $99. The other lens on promo is the 75-300mm USM. original $439. IT IS ONLY $199 with purchase of camera, otherwise $299. (I tried it out, though USM the focusing is still rather slow). The last offer is the EX270 at $159.

I just called to ask. Funan harvey norman already no more promotion for 50mm! sian...

It doesn't necessarily work that way...

The resale price of the lens is not a percentage of the price a single individual paid for it but rather the value of the item as perceived by a group of buyers/sellers.

I don't think you need to tell the buyer how much you paid for the item when you sell it and just because the seller got it cheap doesn't mean the items' value has in any way decreased. What about those who bought their 50mm PWP at $60 or so? They can only resell at $40? I don't think so.

Really?? They don't carry the promo here in Harvey Tampines, thinking of rushing down to Funan since I am going near their vicinity to watch the fireworks and light show at MBS.

just gave a call to Harvey Norman Funan's branch and the sales person told me sold out. Left those $129 but free filter. Where else can get @ $99?

well said indeed. if the $99 last forever then $70 may be true, but this is just a temp sale...

Try calling other outlets and just ask if they can give you the $99 price?

So thats a $60 savings for me. (technically)

Its your call. :). I am just sharing my experience here. Terms and conditions are listed in Canon singapore website on warranty claims too.

PS: If you never register warranty, you only lose the 3 months additional online warranty and enjoy the standard 12 months warranty lah...not void the warranty. :bsmilie:

You can slowly wait and try your luck to see if anyone willing to sell you at $70. I will sell you $70 when I strike the next round of toto. ;p

The lady has some valid points to note.

this aside, its not like she offer you $70 for it. Chill it. Be a man and give her a break..no sarcasm needed.

I think it is the absolutely value of the lens. At the end of the day what u pay don't matter but more of what price ppl are willing go let go at. I think the general price of a used 50mm is between 90 to 100. 70 is abit too low.

Then again, someone just got it at 60?! So jennyfur80 just kiv, some ppl do just drop price in BNS.

Cheers

i went suntec today and the sale person say $99 is ONLY when u buy with the camera so i give a dulan look and went funan and saw alot of ppl trying the 50mm lens and so i ask and they say there is only one left and i guess why u call funan and they said don have is becos i got the last piece .. initially i thought they say that so ppl wont buy more than one but then after what u did then they shd be saying the truth ..
