Considering that Canon just came out with a L USM version of the 50mm f/1.2 (priced at US$1,600  ), I'm wondering if Nikon will follow with an AF-S G version :bsmilie: If they did, I'm pretty sure it'd twist a few people's underware in a knot. :bsmilie:
What's the use of such a lens? Probably good for people who need to boast size to overcome the quality. Look what they have in their arsenal and it's not difficult to tell they just think bigger is better.
50/1.0L, 85/1.2L, 200/1.8L. All of them just a fraction of a stop bigger than the biggest aperture Nikon has or used to have. I don't think I would like to comment about the quality.
My point is I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to pay 3 times the price for just a fraction of a stop more unless they are loaded and need their ego boosted. eg. "Your lengs big ah? My lengs BIGger!!" They are probably people who has a top of the line Canon SLR which boasts the world's fastest AF but using manual focus Leica lenses with modified mount on such bodies.
Often times, these are also the people who do not have any photos to show or share.
