Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie to SLR cameras, and I just got my Canon 500D at $1299 (incl GST) at Harvey Norman. Free gifts include 1 8GB SD Card, 1 Canon Tripod, 1 UV Filter, 1 SONY Carrying Case, 1 Lens Book.. I also extended 2 more yrs of warranty with Harvey Norman at $152. Is this price reasonable?

Been thinking of getting myself a battery grip.

Any recommendation?
Also when through Nikon discussions on battery grip.
Seems like alot of nikon folks are using Travor grips and with good review?

Use MF when recording video. I find their Auto-Focus * not very intuitive and adds that loud "Zzzzzzzzzzzt" sound to the playback.

Just remember to switch back to AF when you're done.

Ok ah, I find the video at 720 / 30fps can be sharp with 18-55 kit and colour good. I used AviSynth to convert MOV to H264 avi. Size so much smaller with not much IQ loss.

do you encounter any Audio sync issue?
what setting did you use?

do you have PS3 ? are you able play your AVI file on your PS3 with the h264 avi?

u can just get one digicab 30l at $118 or less.

there is one in mass sale, look for AIPO look good at 170 for the cheapest model. full digi control

do you encounter any Audio sync issue?
what setting did you use?

do you have PS3 ? are you able play your AVI file on your PS3 with the h264 avi?

Not sure about audiosync issues cos what I did was use the video but my own audio overlay (under Audio - Main Track - Browse), then save under Video-H264, Audio-MP3 LAME.

I have a PS3 and yes, it's able to play H264 avi stream.

The other method was to use Adobe Premier. This accepts MOV, so don't convert. Then you can either choose to use the streaming audio, your own, or a mix of both. You can also easily cut and edit different streams into 1. Only downside is saving it later can take forever.... and the size remains big. Once saved I then convert to H264 and it plays off my PS3.
