Other than better/higher resolution, think that the video for S5is is more useful. Note that the video in 500D once focused (before shooting) will not continue to autofocus when shooting i.e. may go out of focus if subject moves, shooting perspective changes, zoom in/out etc. You can of course re-focus using the "focus button" but the sound of the focusing mechanism will be captured and drown out the audio. The other alternative is to manually adjust focus with the focusing ring. Note also that the frame rate for full HD is at a reduced frame rate of only 20fps instead of 30fps. 30fps is achieved only for lower resolutions.

I will be bringing my DSLR to India and play around. Hopefully I can get good sunrise/sunset pictures plus what India is all about..

Do any of you 500D users feel weird that the mode dial cannot be turned 360 degrees? I mean it's frustrating when i have to turn the dial from AV mode all the way to the other end when i wanna shoot video..

also, do you guys realised that if it's OOF during AF mode, it doesn't allow you to take photo..
