Hi Experts,
I'm so confused!! I'm currently using a 500D + 18-135mm lens, m looking to upgrade my camera, either going for the Lens or should i upgrade to a Nikon D90? where by i still find nikon's pictures colors r more stronger compared to canon as canon pictures r just sharper den nikon.. can i have some comments for this move?
1 more qns... Nikon Lens dont go with any Nikon camera like Canon Lens goes with any camera...m i right wif this?
Hi jryckw, I am no expert here but really enjoy the hobby and fooling around camera gear.
Before my person opinion, we need to look at some key differences and facts between 500D and D90:
Sensor 15 vs 12.3 mp
ISO handling 100-3200 vs 200-3200, expandable to 100-12800 vs 100-6400
Video Full HD 1080p vs HD 720p
AF points 9 vs 11
High speed continuous 3.5fps vs 4.5fps
Image processing 14bit vs 12bit
So much about listing the specification, having tried out both cameras before I don’t see D90 is much of an upgrade from 500D ???, whether they are even on par it is really very subjective. You get very different answers from a Nikon fan vs a Canon fan, and all will claim they are indifference in their opinion. I think both are good cameras and the argument go on and on until the cow come home whether they are on par or one is higher than the other, many Nikon fans like to think D90 is a tag higher and it is the same as my D700 friend have always religiously try to convince me that D700 is a knot higher than 5D Mark II

That make me appreciate my 5D better
Personally, if you are looking for an upgrade and change of brand then you should be looking at Nikon D300s not D90, go try out at the shop and if you are convince D90 is better or an upgrade?? than go for it. I don’t think it is technical spec or IQ here, something like a acquired taste like Apple Mac and iPhone fans, people just like to think Nikon is better and want to buy Nikon and there is nothing wrong with that as I like Canon, Nikon and Pentax but preferred Canon as I like the picture produced by Canon after all the features and spec.
You need to look at the overall package as you are buying into the system not just the camera body, i.e. the lenses that meet your needs. And once you committed enough gears, then the camera body upgrade path is pretty important to protect your investment.
