Stick to your 500D, buddy. ;) Note that you'll be asking the same questions when you get a D90...

alright... thanks man... guess is shall stick to canon and invest on a 17-40mm L Lens, as im lookin for a wide-angle lens

colours can be manipulated through photoshop.

D3000, D5000 do not have in body focusing motor, meaning if they use AF-D lenses, they have to manual focus the lenses. so, in a way they are limited to AF-S lenses only. Likewise, DX body like the D90, D5000, D3000 can use DX and FX lenses but FX body ie D700, D3s can only use FX lenses. It's the same for canon, where crop body ie 550D, 50D, 7D can use EF and EF-S lenses but full frame body ie 5DMKII can only use EF lenses.

actually the FX nikon cameras can use DX lenses but Canon FF camera cannot use EFS lenses. That is a plus point if u planning on getting a FF nikon, but TS is referring to the D90. As for the colour and saturation of nikon being better than canon's, it is subjective. some people prefer the added saturation. However, these can be added when post processing..

get the 10-22 instead.

but i did ask at cathay photography regarding the two lens 17-40mm L & 10-22mm .. ask 17-40mm is good for future if i to upgrade to 5DMk II, i can still use the 17-40mm whereby i cant use the 10-22mm..

M i right about this?

You are right.

But you have an 18-135mm now.

If you were to get a 17-40mm, 1mm ain't gonna make big difference.

But if you want to shoot UWA, then 17-40mm can only do so WHEN you GET the full frame camera, which you do not have now.

It's up to you, whether to spend the money on something that could be long term or something that is more practical now.

Doesn't sound like you are gonna upgrade to a FF in the near future.

Agreed...but since you're on a CF body, you won't get to practise UWA shots (nothing but mid-range zooms)... I've been on your side of the street before, hence I went for Nikon's DX UWA... a happy camper ever since.. If I immediately jumped onto the FF bandwagon with an FF lens... I doubt I can enjoy UWA coverage these days... have to endure until I get FF which will be 1, 2, 3, 5, years down the road? If that's the case, your years will be wasted as opportunities come and go... There will be regrets, no?

OHH.. so you guys encourage me to get the 10-22mm UWA lens instead? as ya u r right.. i wouldnt be upgrading into a FF camera like 5DMK II in 1-2yrs time..

If you find your current lens not wide enough or you want to try UWA lenses.

i would like to try UWA lens as in a small compact area i couldnt get a good shot n fit into the image.. so i think 10-22 is a good choice?

Only if you want to... You mentioned shooting buildings... UWA will come in handy for really large buildings or if you don't have enough leg room...

For the range, probably that's all you can use for CF bodies. Other option would be third party alternatives.

so shuld i get the 10-22? will it help me to take a better building pics? oh my! so many comments n im confused.... its still does help right? UWA 10-22 den my current 18-135 right?

Definitely better than choosing 17-40. That's because, this lens on a CF will only give you approximately 27-64mm, quite tight for buildings and wide angles.

However, BEFORE you plonk $$ for the UWA....go shoot around with the 18-135 and see if it gives you enough room for buildings you plan to shoot. If you want sharp images - the secret is investing in a good tripod, and stop down the lens to f/8 to f/11... Buildings are stationery... they don't move AT ALL... justifies the use of tripods... You only use handheld if your subject is constantly on the move...

Additional note: 10-22 is a better compliment to your current lens since it covers angles far more wider than the 18-135mm... Whether you truly need it or not, will depend on your subjects..
