$500 budget digicam.

Any recommendations for a $500 budget digicam? A40 is pretty much out. preferrably the budget to include memory, battery.

Wait for Coolpix 2100?

CP3100 listed price is $599, a friend of mine got it at CP at $550.
So I think CP2100 should be well within budget, + the fact rechargeable AA batt can be used, it solves the problem of battery.

And it is really small and convenient to carry around.

But I think it boils down to how much control you want over your shots, both CP 3100 and 2100 don't seem to allow much manual settings.

A friend's friend about the Fuji A203 at $399 during the IT show and an additional 128MB xD card, total was charged $500 for it. Maybe you can consider this.

Of course batteries are otherwise calculated.

what is the A40 out for you? a brand new one cost about 390, throw in extra 128MB CF card, extra batteries and a charger, will be about 500.

Not aware of that but there are quite a number of 2nd hand ones around.

Yup, but it might burst his budget of $500 if u include CF cards, batteries, chargers, etc.
