ya, that's right, but as the pricing for this digicam is still unknown, i will recommend a wait and see attitude before commiting yourself to get A40, furthermore, with the introduction of A70 to local markets and if the price for A70 is beyond your budget, there will still be an anticipated price drop for A40 :D so it's a win win situation

Canon A70 is a good choice for the budget conscious.
wonder when is it coming to s'pore?
here's the review to share with you all :

You bought it already? Hmm.. damn tempted man...
Now, all i need to check out is the Ixus 400 and see how it compares...

how about the Canon Ixus V2? It's selling at a package deal which makes it effectively ~$400. Do you think it'll be a better camera compared to the A70?

aside frm price, A70 has more manual control. S400 is smaller (more pocket size), more "stylo" design.

i guess target user will be
A70: ppl who wants value for money, manual control, not so much on outlook. more room for photographic adventure (tc, wide angle)?

S400: ppl who wants the more advance camera with nicer design and smaller footprint. manual control is not that important. higher budget.

Got one from Parisilk last week, SGD470 inc GST.

FYI

Corrections on the "BSS" feature on Nikon 3100 in your personal review.

BSS stands for Best Shot Selector. It continue taking shots as long as the shutter release button is press but instead of simply taking the last frame and store it into memory as stated in your review, it analyze all the shots and select the best (base on sharpness) to be stored into memory. This feature is useful when you need to handheld your camera at low shutter speed.

Will update my review.

That even makes 3100 even cooler! But how does the camera decide which one is best?

Bram

Any advice on how to get the $470-490 price from PariSilk or MS Color?

I just called them, and both are quoting $530 (inclusive of GST).
Also checked with Alan Photo, also $520.

Thanks:confused:

Try going to their website at www.mscolor.comsg and send them an e-quote with the camera you intending to buy and your email address.

From past experience, MS Color should reply in 2-3 days and you need to print the email for the quoted price.

Please do note the e-quote prices does not include the 4% GST which you need to include yourself.

Other shops offering e-quote service is www.cathayphoto.com.sg

However Cathay Photo's e-quote can take 1 week or longer to reply via email. :(

I guess the camera's image processor will choose the sharpest image base on the focus bracket used. I might be wrong. As I own a 4500 myself, I had tried taking three frame with BSS on and deliberately blurring the 1st and last shots by shaking the camera and the camera is smart enough to choose the second frame as the best!
