4x5 Kodachrome Photos, US Home Front War Effort during WWII

wow great !! they looked like they were just shot this week !!!

Used google translate to understand his preface .....

I often go to the site www.shorpy.com inspired color Kodahroma. The site is widely known for its archival photographs, so it is unlikely he will be opening for you. But now I wanted to make a selection chosen to hand was on the same page and in good quality. Perhaps you too would be interested. All images were made in 1940-1943. Signatures transfer did not, because what is bad and I'm afraid I can misquote. But in general, all so clear. Look, we soak.

Good reason to shoot LF more using Velvia 50 or 100. That was 1940-1943. Today is 2012.

Guys, I was talking about shooting studio for some time.

LoShen, please fine tune the E6 process.

Once the colour is spot on from test strip, these are reference pictures to benchmark.

I am glad to see that kodachrome has managed to preserve such important images with no issue after all this years.

My kodachrome processed date is younger than me. (Actually one of the few last batch from dwayne before processing are all killed.) Maybe when I gotten to my retirement age, I can take out my E-6 and K-14 slides to look again.

I shot 腊笔小新 on Velvia 50. Loshen, Ah Hong and Pikapig saw it. I will post later :)

Working on it! Patrick, Ernest and I are constantly exchanging ideas and culling through documentations to see how to nail this one down. Give us a bit more time!

I second that. Although he looks strangely like 腊笔小新 but he's the BOSS!

I agreed. The last outing he asked me when i getting a lf, i said no, i am not getting any. He said wa lau just go get one lah! I bought a sinar after 2 weeks...

:( What is going on. I don't pay salary.

You are wrong.
In drama, all CEO and boss looks serious and some are friendly old man, gangster fierce looking or handsome guy.
In actual life, all CEO and boss looks like 腊笔小新.

The boss points and you OBEY!

The boss of a chinese empire is call the king. Do you see the king pay salary to the farmer? There will come a point in the level where the boss doesn't need to pay salary.

Technically excellent 4x5 but....more than that.... his shots of ordinary US war time industry workers portray their dignity and brave spirit to confront the Japanese.

This US pride and the US industrial might was what admiral Yamamoto was afraid of.

Along the same lines, there are some great shots from the past:

Captured: America in Color from 1939-1943
Captured: Color Photography from Russia in the Early 1900′s

And if you guys would like your slides to be as archival as the old Kodakchrome, your best bet, according to the article below, is going to be Velvia, which was the only real alternative to Kodakchrome (Ektarchromes failed considerably in this department). Velvia in fact, exceeded Kodakchrome 25 in terms of grain size and image structure! It was no wonder Velvia literally kicked up a storm when it was launched.

Thanks to Ernest who found this excellent article.

An alternative color process called the autochromes started marketing in 1907! I don't know about cost, but it is a highly toxic process. Even today there are still practitioners of this old process.
