From Feb to Apr 2017, gas prices was increased 4.5%. Now May to July 2.44%. They going by slow and steady method.

Anyway now it is complete - water, electricity and gas - all increased.

I support the cost of water should be priced to reflect actual cost but for those that need financial assistance, something should be done to help them. However, I am puzzled to why we are wasting so much valuable water in allowing water features, swimming pools, etc. Does PUB required these installation to have water meter to monitor their consumption? These are non essential installation that should be priced differently for enjoyment purpose. Any regulation to ensure they have design to ensure no wastage and proper balancing tanks?

Do we regulate to ensure no excessive facade cleaning, jetting of common areas, etc? With all glass buildings springing up all over the island, these buildings no longer require painting but constant cleaning. Once upon a time was to repaint every 5 years. Now you wash down once a year or more?

So, please don't just look at the little fishes on how many time a person goes to the toilet but the big whales and sharks that are swimming around. My 2-cent

Can you explain what do you mean by exploit? You mean the actual cost of water was much lower and government jack up to make a profit? Or you mean government should subsidize and let people enjoy cheaper water? What is your definition, care to share?

If the raise is to have population save water .. it will not work.. just go around and ask friend does this increase change they water usage behaviour .. the answer is no... This is purely a raising revenue exercise. I really hope the $ raise will be used for a good cause to either increase the overall water supply or towards technology that reduces usage vs towards shareholder returns.

I think you are spot and they did in fact say they were going to invest in water works.

Population is your bigger problem looking at it from afar and this is why water is becoming an even bigger issue than it always has been for you guys. Look at some point there is only so much land to sustain so many folks. I am beginning to wonder if your ministers have not made a huge mistake importing so many foreigners.

If they imported these foreigners just "to do jobs Singaporeans wont do" I dont buy that BS at all because those jobs would eventually would get done because the lack of supply would cause the wage to rise to an attractive level such that someone would eventually step up.

Now you have more folks which will lead to exponential population growth which will lead to some very knotty problems on that tiny red dot. Hence my deal where I say some of you are going to eventually have to emigrate. I know at least one bro from this board who has done just that...he is in China.
