Many people do not care about the water price hike. Most Singaporeans are affluent, so their lifestyles cannot be changed or no need to be changed as they could afford it.

The price hike is a good source of revenue for the government. The government has to find new ways to increase revenues. They started with petrol tax hike but not enough. So they have to find alternate source. Given that price of water has not risen in recent years, it became a candidate. After water, what's next? :think:
