As title, looking to buy a prime lens for my d90 as i found 50mm f1.8 is too tight for crop body.

Anyone had use these two lens b4? any recommendation?

35 f1.8 for the wide aperture.

Agreed. The 35mm f1.8 is great. I just went on a tour with just the 35mm..

Aperture of 2.8 is sometimes noit enough in low light situations..

For the 2 you stated... FOR SURE 35mm f1.8!

HI,

the 35mm f/1.8 is Dx. Do consider the 35mm f/2. Slightly 'slower' as not AFs, but you mount the 2 at f/2 under the same condition, you will notice the Fx lens just might give you an edge over the Dx lens.

Needless to say both are sharp lens.

24 f/2.8 = 36mm on Dx. Nice outdoor but too cram in Hdb group shots. If you want a wide a wide prime, buy the 20mm f/2.8. Its phenomenal.

I tested all, 35 f/1.8, f/2, 24, 20. Got the 35 f/2 and 20 f/2.8. Totally changed the way I see things. They are all goo sharp and Contrasty lens.

Cheers!

Thanks to all. yup, i'm consider upgrade to d700. Perhaps 24mm f2.8 more suitable for me as i normally set my 50mm to f2.8 and 20 f2.8 is out of budget.. is the issue with 35mm f2 solve?

35mm f/2?

Oily Diaphragm blades??? That was long solved years back. I don't know any other issues. Make sure you get the ones with the circled arrows and the 10 inside.

Cheers!

To comply with Japan/ National Recycling standards, all lens produced, sold after 2006 will have the symbol. Also, no more Silent Wave Motor print, but SWM on the lens.
