Hi all you seniors out there. I need a fast Zoom lens and after much research I have narrowed down my choices to two lenses,
The nikon 24-70mm f2.8 or the dx 17-55mm f 2.8
I have read many reviews and forum threads out there bur I still remain indecisive as both of them match my criteria. I like to shoot scenery and event photos, both indoors and outdoors occationally sports during my cca and school functions and experimenting with bokeh and aperture settings but my kit lens is just not fast enough sometimes.
I don't think that I will be going ff anytime soon. Reviews all say that the 24-70 is a better lens with a better IQ and on my crop sensor would translate to about 35-105(?)mm which is a focal range that I use alot of, especially at my cca events. I already have a 55-200mm vr but it always a bother having to switch lenses and then by the time I'm done the moment is gone. However, it also sacrifices the slight wide angle of the 17-55mm which I also use quite alot. some forums also talk about how the 24-70mm can better hold on to their "market value" than the 17-55mm(correct me if I'm wrong) not that it will matter since I'll probably use it till either I or the lens decide to wave the white flag.
Weight really isnt an issue cuz I'm already used to lugging around 16kg of stuff on 2d1n 30km hikes so the 150g diff in weight doesn't really affect me. As for cost, not to worry my senior CSers I am not taking money from my parents. I have been saving up for the lens for quite some time now so it do nor want to have to make the wrong choice thn regret later.
It's maddening, this choice of lenses but I'll be eternally greatful if you seniors may input your suggestions and perhaps experiences to help me make a more "informed" choice.

after all I learnt
More from CS in 2 weeks then from google in2 months.
