Have often wondered if world cup matches can be kelonged.
Bookies make a killing with match results like this.
Also if host country is a rich one and general elections are just after the world cup finals, then somehow host country does very well. Politicians really need a win.
a former host country can be kicked out in the first round in the next world cup 4 years later. (held in another country and timing is not near to former host country's GE anymore). Thus revealing how truly lousy their football standard is.

Do you remember the World Cup 2002 ? Brazil became the Champion at Korea-Japan !
It's similar case with this year, the weather is not so friendly with European teams.
