1st post! 828 or V3?

I'm thinking of buying a V3 as well, was also considering the FZ20 and 828. A friend who bought the 828 when it first came out now hardly uses the camera due to its heft. What a waste!
Btw, the design of the shutter button/mode dial areas on the V3 and 828 are almost identical, as if they put a long lens on the V3 to make the 828.

the body of V3 is also smaller than F828...

btw all boils down to... do you need the extra focal length?

IMHO, F828 would be a better choice.
its 28mm-200mm lens gives you more vision.
If you dread its size and odd shape, you can consider Dimage A series.
Since you already own a 38mm cam, why not get a cam that covers wider angles.
