Wow... you are so rich can spend 15k for your holdiay. :thumbsup:I don't think a lot of bros and sis have similar setup. Maybe the total cost of their gear is 15k but not 1 lens + 1 body. Of course, some may spend over $23k for Leica M9 and the Noctilux.

Frankly a simple Europe trip with some shopping for 2 person easily hit $15K. Not to say if you pay for the whole family. So there are many people out there having such money, just that they spend on different things.

Wah...that is bad. I never buy any camera equipment on credit.

1) To me a hobby should not put me in debt.
2) Pay by cash always help me shave additional $200 - $300 from the price quoted.

Well others may disagree with me.:sweatsm:

thanks bro,the thing is, this first batch camera doesn't have any discount on cash payment thats why i decided to pay by installment 24 month interest free..........and i know how to get money back from this baby... indeed i feel pain when i have to pay all in one time

Impressive high ISO performance.

Ermm... where did you get the figures from?? Definitely not true.

If you plan well, for 2 and "simple" shopping in Europe, you can easily do it well below S$10k. And I don't even mean staying at super budget hotels.

Hang on... it depends on how you define "simple". Definitely not buying top-end bags (which is considered simpe to some) or stuffs like that. :)

Sorry for the OT. Now back to the 1d4...

I agree. Not only for cameras, but sound financial planning requires that you reduce your debt to as low as possible for all items.

On the other hand, payment by installment is not considered debt if you have the money on hand to pay for it. For large ticket items, the money can be put in an interest bearing instrument while you pay off the installment. There are only two conditions which I will do this, though:

1. The cost is the same whether you pay by cash or installment.
2. The interest rate charged for the installment must be 0%.

Other than that, I pay cash and enjoy the immediate savings.

Wow, the high iso is pretty impressive.

S$7299 nett? can't wait to upgrade my 20D ~_~"

I don't understand the need to bad bite one's richness or poorness (if there is such a word) in this forum. Come one guys, its about sharing and being passionate about one thing only, which is photography. It does not matter if you are senior or newbie (like myself) nor does it matter if one owns a simple, cheap or expensive camera setup. I believe this forum is about making new friends and exchanging views or even the simplest task of asking an advise from those who are more experience technically.

Give the guy/gal a break. :):)

why shoot at F4 when you paid for the F2 IS haha....show us some nice shots only possible with a F2IS + 1D4 high iso leh :D

Where did you buy the camera?

I was told the price is $6950 with GST

actually some place is selling $6850 if you use cash (not even nets). But I could not find enough reasons to bite it. (could be just for me...:bsmilie:)

This thread isn't about "photography", though?

While it does have a few "not so nice" photographs as admitted by the TS/photographer, it is really a thread about camera equipment and not photography per se.

Ask yourself, what is this thread about, really?

If it was a thread about pictures taken by an expensive setup I wouldn't even think about poking fun at anything; in fact the TS has another thread with pics taken by the 200/2 that aren't all that bad and that I haven't poked fun at or thought about. But I ask again, what is the purpose of this thread if you boil it down?

If someone is showing off their recently purchased very expensive kit then they're inviting comments about their financial situation. If anything, they started the discussion. If they were showing off their pictures taken by very expensive kit, nice or otherwise, then I would agree with your comments altogether.

"Look at me guys, I've just bought this very expensive camera and lens and I was one of the first ten in the country to get the camera!"

Let me get this straight - if you have the money and want to buy your stuff you go right ahead, that's your right and your prerogative and I'm not disputing that. It doesn't matter if you couldn't take a photograph to save your life or if you were the best photographer in the world.

But if you intend to show off your new and expensive kit then I think a few comments in relation to that are not out of place.

This is the problem with photography in Singapore, as I've bleated about numerous times. More people get excited by exciting kit than they do about exciting photography.

I agree with this. Alot of people around here make a thread when they've got a new camera. There's nothing wrong with this, but why not a thread starting with images taken by the Mark IV to prove its quality rather than "Oh i am so excited im one of the 1st 10 people". No offence intended, but like Jed, I do not see the point of this thread.
