Guys, no offense but please stop OT'ing with all that 2.4 and SOC stuff... I'm interested to find out more about the Mk 3, not your physical fitness. TIA.

Patience....they are still figuring how to switch on the monster. Mabe by the 20th page we get to learn something.

Yeah, sorry to barge in on the thread and post random rants, but I certainly look forward to handling the 1D Mk 3 soon. Any things i should look out for?

The usual checks with a brand new camera..check functionality and operability, AF focusing, and any dead pixel on sensor or LCD screen. You may also want to buy an LCD screen protector for that big ass rear LCD (inviting scratches..though unlikely to happen - the material is pretty tough...better safe than sorry  )

Like the others said its a beast of a camera and can be overwhelming to some, it takes some time to master, but once you handle a 1 series camera body, you won't wanna look back... :D

1DM3 is much simpler to use compare to the 1DM2......If you have used 30D, 5D, 1DM3 will be simple to master.

I had a hard time switching to 1DM2 from 5D.

LIVE VIEW on 1DMIII with Remote Capture. Problem is that it is manual focus only. As the instruction manual says, it is for portrait shots. Dont expect to take action shots with the LIVE VIEW. BTW, you can manually focus using the remote capture on the computer.

Garion, thanks for your info about how to BUY a 1D Mk 3, but that won't be for awhile, as I'm still waiting for both my father and new stock to arrive in singapore ;). I'm just going to try it out at EOS day, but I hope I won't be too enamored of it, or I'll never be able to look at my 20D again :o

had a chance to see the mk3 in action today, courtesy of John Cosgrove, on a shoot today. hehe... think he just converted a few more people to place their orders for it, once the shops open tomorrow. :bsmilie:

it really rocks. watch out for the july issue of PhotoVideoi. there shld be a review of this cam. ;)

A nice camera .Enjoy using it.
Live view also easy to used, but must be manual focus.U can magnified to 5x or 10x for easy focus....

I guess it is Mr comB skills  if he use 30D oso can achieve that kinda results

No lahhh. others ppl can shot as good as this. All type of camera also can achieve the result.....but MIII pro body abit

The previous 1 series are like that, one finger hold button, the other rotate the dial, so requires two hands at a time to change configuration. However, the feeling is more enjoyable. When you think about the quality of the pictures that the 1 series can produce, you won't find it a hassle.

I enjoyed the old 1 series very much.

Heard that 1D Mk 3 has a very different menu system control, looks like I have to get used to the new engineering when the 1D Mk 3 available for sale again.

Just got mine yesterday... Thought it a bit ironic since I was the one who started the thread a few weeks back that I hadn't gotten mine/posted.

Charged it up for the first time last night and first thing I did was to fire off some of the good ol' ISO3200. Can I just say that this thing is AMAZING at high ISO. Ran a test shot in a darkened room (blinds closed, only light through door), and this thing PERFORMS. Even did a bit of PP in Noise Ninja to see what the effect were... Negligible, compared to other cameras I've had in the past running at ISOs less that that.

Am definitely taking this puppy for a spin tonight to put it through its paces... Meantime, I've got bugs to capture. Want to try this out with Live view.

Wow, the low light performance is better than I had expected! Hope to see more shots from you up here!

wow. Canon's future cams incl 40D or 500D whichever consumer will have such clean Hi-ISO pics. They are definitely ahead of other major brands.

Canon's certainly the low light, flash-less wedding photographers' dream.

Tell me about it... I've a wedding to attend tonight. Even though I'm not attached to the bridal party, I'm SOOO tempted just to trial the Mk3 in a proper wedding reception environment.

Of course... I won't though ;p

I think one HUGE benefit is that it effectively gives everyone with a f4.0 lens a new lease of life. Just bump up the ISO and it can still perform like a 2.8 or better.

But i really want to try how this performs under candlelight... Now if that isn't an excuse to cook dinner for my wife, i don't know what is.:sweatsm:
