13/09/2012: Nikon announces D600 FF 24,3 mp

I doubt any of the 3 will wow you as much as the Sigma 50 f1.4. That is a stellar lens and I believe you will love it on any FF camera. Just bear in mind it lacks the versatility of a zoom and most likely you will need something wider if you are traveling or helping out in functions :)

Yes I agree ... I have Sigma 50 f1.4 ( Pentax mount ) ....

Actually lens spec don't change , it's still a 50mm lens .
Just that because you switch to dx mode it will give you
a 75mm Fov . But why would you want to do that ?
By switching to dx your resolution will also drop to 10 or 12mp on a D600.

Thanks for the reply, I know focal length won't change of cos, the FOV should be the correct word. I love to use prime lens, travel to Korea during winter with only 24f2.8, 35f2 & 50f1.4mm only on D700. As to use DX mode with prime lens if I need extra reach, 10MP is fine for me, I don't do big print.

DX mode is just an auto crop for you. You always can do that with post processing

Agree, I think this function is useful mainly for video. If u choose DX mode for taking stills, got to be careful when framing. Only what u see in the box in the VF will be captured and the rest cropped out automatically.

Went funan in the afternon to buy lens for D600 at TK. The price of D600 is now selling at. $2699

I am thinking of getting the D600...but am worried about the reach of FX format.
Have been wondering if I can use my 55-300mm lens on a DX format, to achieve that kind of reach i.e. 450mm

Does this mean it will be more effective if I just use maybe 70-200mm on FX format and crop my pictures in post processing?

Thanks.

Think you are better of sticking to DX bodies.
