I have the 105 VR micro so my reply is biased. I think the advantages of the 105 VR over the 105 DC are:
1. Has VR. 105mm is not so easy to handhold, esp on DX cam. You have to try the VR2 mechanism on the 105 VR to realise how useful it is.
2. Nano coating. The 105 VR has great contrast right from f2.8. From samples I've seen, the 105 DC suffers from the usual loss of contrast at max f2. So it does not really have an effective one stop advantage over the 105 VR.
3. AF is fast and accurate (surprisingly so for a macro lens). Don't know how it compares with 105 DC though.
4. Close focusing of course. Thus, much more flexible than 105 DC.
BTW, the bokeh of the 105 VR is also very nice (much improved from the 105 f2.8 AFD version).
Hope this helps.
