plenty to improve on exposure. Damn cheap tripod which kept creaping. Advise please

I think you could've gone hand held since it was a daylight shot. Try adding a graduated filter on Lightroom or Photoshop if you shot in raw to correct the exposure. The sky is a bit washed out.

thanks. ssaloon. Have not got to PP yet, way much to learn and improve. still struggling with the package software.

you could also underexpose the shot then brighten it up during PP. Details are easier to recover when you underexpose as compared to overexposing the shot and burning out the skies...

the exposure here looks ok. don't focus too much on exposure and leave out the other important skills like composition and stuffs.

Hi Fellow Canonians!

It's been a while since I visited this site.. I thought it's the best site to share some pics for C&C.. But the thing is, i couldn't successfully post my pictures from flickr in this site. Anybody able to provide some quick instructions on how to post pictures instead of just posting the link? I tried to use the link from flickr but the problem is it's not getting displayed.

Thanks!

I had same problem till I tried this.
1) Select/click the photo (Flickr). 2) Click on all size icon (above photo). 3) I usually choose the medium. 4) Right click (the photo) and select properties. 5) here you will finf the url, copy it. 6) Go back to this thread and select 'Post a Reply'. Click insert image and paste the url you copied. 7) Go to view post (bottom) and check if your pic appear.

any comments from others?

Thanks for the quick help cakkarudie!

Here are some of my shots taken during my trip to Macau-HK with my wife. I was using the 1000D's kit lens (18 - 55mm). Comments and criticisms are helpful. I'm usually challenged with getting the correct exposure and good composition. Suggestions are welcome too! Thanks!~

I like the blurring effect! What lens did you use? Good exposure as well! :)

Hi cakka! I was also using the so called free tripod when i bought the 1000D and it even broke!!! I was in a dilema cos takin alot of night shots but no tripod. I oso got budget problem. I ended up visiting MS color in AMK and tested a few reasonably priced tripods and bought myself a BENRO 200EX for $120. I'm very happy with the performance of the tripod till date. Very stable and looks pro. Even comes with padded bag! What to do...cannot afford Manfrotto leh!!!hahaha...just my 2 cents....

Hi dev2k8

at least what you broke is a free tripod. I paid $40 for this cheapo SteinZeiser sz-01 and found out i was ripped .... where else Sim Lim. The Pan head will slowly creep to one side with the 1000D/Kit.
I will swing by MS for the Benro you got. $120 seems within budget, and Ball Head too. Any recommendation for one with shorter folded length, just need it to fit in my back pack.

cheers
cakka

Sigh.. bought my canon 1000D 2 months ago and had been shooting with it together with a bunch of friends who are using Nikon cameras.

Turn out that alot of my shots turn out to be very soft/very crisp or sharp compare to my friends who are using Nikon D70 or D80. Even with flash on at night.

Do you all have any problems with it or encounter similar issues?

Having second thoughts about canon and thinking of a switch. Hope to hear some feedbacks from you guys first.

thank you and any objective feedback will be welcomed.
i want to believe in canon but my nikon friends who had been into photography for many years persuade me about the many problems about canon. Metering and focusing issues.
