well, i'm not sure about the 10-20 's focusing, but sigma lenses in general tend to have focusing problems with their lenses. i was lucky to have a decently sharp 30mm.

:dunno:

i don't seem to have any problem...

tamron has a slower AF and inaccurate as well....haha...sigma i think couldnt be worse than tammy...

Err.... I'm using the 10-20mm.... no problem so far

i know the 12-24 is a superb lens. just that i'm leaning towards the 11-16 more because of the aperture.

so i shoot more of people, rather then architecture, so yea, a larger aperture lens will suit me better.

however, cost is another factor as well.. as i'm still a student.

I understand what u meant. If u do lots of group shots and indoors, the 11-16 will be better. IIRC the 11-16 only cost a bit more than the 12-24.

I disagree with u. I used to own a few Tamron lenses and all of them do not give me and AF problems. As Tamron doesn't have any HSM or USM features, their AF speed is faster than Sigma's non-HSM lenses to be honest.

yupps definetly, hmm yea about 100-200 dollars more. i'm just hoping the 11-16 is being sold cheaper in hong kong.

i agree!

AF may be loud and irritating, but its sure faster.

well so basically, i won't mind getting either UWA lens. it just gotta depend on the pricing thats all.

The Tokina 11-16 is insanely sharp, most people would pick it over the Nikon's 10-24 for the price as well.

For me, i'll get that UWA lens as long as it's the widest it can go for my camera.

11-16mm is is about SGD$800 in hongkong haha im planning to get 1 in december too, if i go to HK that is...

Not going fisheye?

Nope. Fisheye gives a totally different perspective, so cannot compare.

exactly. fisheye and UWA lenses serve very different purposes.

hmm, well, given a choice, i would get the canon 10-22.. but too expensive. cheapest i can get is $800. but the conditon of it would probably look not normal

For your budget, u might want to consider 2nd hand.

Clever composition can hide the fisheye perspective. Anyway, WA can be done using stitching.

I've used it before and a fisheye will always be a fisheye, perspective is still different from UWAs and we're talking about what the lens gives, not after u've done correction in the computer.

my next question is. for a 11-16mm lens VS a 12-24mm lens. is 5mm or focal range worth it?

i guess i'm perfectly fine with is as a UWA lens is mainly shooting UWA stuff.. but yea, is it worth it?
