Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Hard to say. Mind me asking what model is your remote flash? Personally for me, I won't want to risk it. Let's agree to disagree on this. Also, I hate that I have to take extra care and be constantly be mindful of my OCFs (if it's a 600EX) as compared to when using the YN560s.

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Yes, but the thought of using it (the 600EX-RT) off-camera is daunting. Who knows if my 600EX is really "safe" (from theft or being knocked down [although properly sandbagged])? That's yet another factor I considered - cost of damage to my flash in the event something happens. IMO, the best -...

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Well, I mainly shoot events, and having a TTL on-camera flash gives me greater flexibility as most - if not all - of the events I shoot are indoors. Speedlites to me are like insurance - when I need it, I really need it, but when you don't, you really don't. And right now I am now trying to...

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

... Or get a couple of 600EX-RTs. Anyway, I think I'd only jump over to the 5D-series only after I have "invested" enough in Canon L lenses to justify getting another FF body  (former Pentax user here).

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Yeah, I figured (and accepted?) this out some time before this post. Thank you for pointing that out and pardon my unwillingness to accept that fact. It really gets to me that this "feature" that I like is found on the cheaper YNs but not implemented in the 600EX. Oh well. This now leaves me...

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Look at this blog: http://sassaniphotography.com/off-camera-lighting-how-i-light-my-wedding-receptions/ See how he mounts his Pocket Wizard that is attached to his on-camera SB900 via the PC-sync port? That setup enables him to fire off both his on-camera and off-camera flash - it is exacly how...

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Well before I got the 600EX, I have been using an on-camera YN560 (all mark I-s) to trigger another off-camera YN560 using the flash trigger via the PC-sync port of the on-camera YN560. It is essentially the same setup as my previous post, with the exception that the on-camera flash is now a...

Triggering an off-camera flash using the 600EX via PC-sync

Hello everyone! I am in a bit of a pickle. I am using a 6D. I have a flash trigger (a Canon-specific Meyin RF-604), and I am trying to trigger both my on-camera 600EX-RT and an off-camera flash (YN560) using a flash trigger. The trigger is attached by a sync cable (3.5mm) from the 600EX's...

    Help or Advice on photography

(Here are just some points already discussed above but I'll just re-iterate it.) Chances are, your Tamron 2875 might be a little tight if you're shooting indoors (where sometimes you cannot move any further back). So try to use a slightly wider lens (like the 18-55 kit). Also remember to bounce...

Rumours again ! Pentax DSLR but no FF

Well, the only reason why I like FF (in general) is because I find the viewfinder nice and big for the myopic me. :P

    Nikon D5100 Auto Focus damaged?

If you really wanna test if your AF point is damaged, why not shoot a chart - something 2D - instead of a 3D object like your toy? Shooting something 3D (like your toy) has many factors contributing to the fact why your pictures are not sharp (i.e. in focus). If you shoot a chart and there's...

    K5IIs Review and K5IIs vs K5 @ PentaxForums

Can I chime in? I've bought all my Pentax gear in the UK while I was studying there. The shop, SRS Microsystem, informed me that all Pentax products sold are covered with 1 year international warranty and 3 years UK warranty. When I asked about the international warranty, they told me that it...

Can Metz 58AF-2 flash do HSS multi shot?

If I'm not wrong, it's the limitation of the flash. High speed sync (HSS) does not mean you can do continuous shots. HSS just means that you can trigger the flash with a shutter speed higher than 1/180 (AKA X-Sync speed). To do continuous shots with the flash keeping up (in any mode; manual...
