    40D vs 5D

semantics aside, i agree with this. anyone who has tried making images of fast-moving subjects such as birds and other animals will soon realise that speed is a big consideration for such photography. no point having full frame on a very good sensor when the shutter lag or frame rate or AF...

Image Stabilization -- is it useful?

Do you understand the basics of photography? A few stops is quite significant. 3 stops is already 8 times. You better go back to Exposure 101. Newbie! :thumbsd:

    SB800 is trinity flash?

I have an R2D2, I get off using it, does that make me a "PRO" (whatever that means) and a fanboy and toyboy?? wow, PRO+fanboy+toyboy = Trinity. Holy macaroni! I got no life too, btw, like some folks on this forum. Spend my time advising everyone to buy everything Nikon. And typing things like...

Why you would NOT buy the AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED

Can we stick to the originator's question? I had to scroll down 2 pages of off-thread ego-polishing to realise there was no relevant talk on the original thread. pls chatter on your own separate thread, I'm more interested in the original thread question.

in no particular order: 1. read the manual. 2. sign up for the d70s class conducted by nikon singapore. it's free for new owners. somebody should make this 2 tips a sticky under a 'new d50/d70s owners read here first" thread.

    What should i get

i beg to differ. there are different kinds of nature photography - landscape, macro (micro), bird, etc. different lenses would be more cost-effective for each kind.

1DS mkII or keep the junk? (very long)

 :thumbsup: to the moderator for taking up the cause of us proletariat. it took suprisingly long for someone to point out how obnoxious, condescending and insulting our burgeoise CSer's remarks were. why bother asking us working class folks only to question our intelligence...
