I can't seem to simulate the problem on my 7D. My picture is slightly soft but no where as soft compared to the two posted. Old man, hand shaky liao. I used f1.8 but at 1/100 with flash at around 3 meters.

Hahaha you forgot to add a grip and battery and another flash. If you sell your gear and buy brand new equipment you lose a lot. If you sell your gear and buy used equipment you lose less $$$ but waste more time. Seems like a lose-lose situation. Better to stick to current gear and save...

Zahne, Stick with the A850 + 24-70 + F58AM. Then get yourself an external flash pack. 3rd party will do. About $85. Leave the 85mm CZ in the bag for those situations when it is called for. You are handling events. Money will come in. If it doesn't then no point having two cameras right...

I repaired before. Change of gear part. Cost about $80. But that was back in 2008. Could be more now. It would be more economical to get a replacement lens in the Buy & Sell section of this forum. It pops up now and then.

Upgraded the A850 firmware. Yes the focusing is faster. Not sure about the better ISO performance. My apologies I read this thread only after upgrading firmware.

Hi TS, from the sentence above, seems to suggest there is a misconception that APS-C / DX lenses have no cropping effect. All lenses, regardless of Full Frame (FX) or APS-C (DX) will have a cropping on an APS-C (DX) sensor. All lenses be it Full Frame or APS-C will have their focal length...

My mentor (long long ago) would ask us to switch to bulb mode for the minolta xg-1 Said that the spring inside will last longer as not always compressed. But I don't think that's how cameras nowadays work. Just leave it at P mode lor? P is stand for parking right? Hahaha. I cannot...
