When (D) lens are an added advantage...

There is at least one other advantage that comes with using a D lens -- on the Maxxum 7, anyway, the LCD screen on the back will tell you the depth of field, in feet and meters, when the DOF preview button is pressed on the camera. This is a great way to tell precisely what's in focus, even if...

    Dynax7 or 7Digital

England still uses the Pound Sterling. 1 SGD = .49 EU = .33 GBP (pounds) = .58 USD. You have our crappy economy (and shitty president) to thank for the dollar being so low. : ) And hell, Viv, some of us live in the USA already. :P Anyway, I need more resolution, less cropping (a 20mm...

    Pushing film

AR: that is correct. The negative itself will be developed for a longer time (when pushing) so that it will be the correct exposure. It has -nothing- to do with the printing process.

    Gothic arts

I generally try to shoot in what I consider to be a gothic style...there are some on my website (under somber) Here's a shot from a photo shoot I did: http://www.theblight.net/nlt/mel01.jpg here's a shot of me and my girlfriend at a Rocky Horror show --...

    Pushing film

Pushing film will allow you to shoot in circumstances where ordinarily you would be unable to do so; say you go on a shoot and you use up all your 800 film and it gets dark, all you have left is 400 and you don't want to use flash...push it a few stops to 800, 1600 or 3200. However, you lose...

    Do you own a laptop?

Yes, it certainly does depend on your job scope. I'm a university student in Computer Engineering (at a crazy rigorous California school). They force us to use PCs a lot due to donations from companies that don't know better and only have one version of their software, etc. etc. But Virtual PC...

Having a major problem with Dynax 7

Shot the wedding yesterday; went really well. I was in class and such from 9am until 10:20PM on Friday, then drove 3.5 hours north to the Bay Area. Was at the wedding at 9:45am the next morning, and left the Bay Area to come back to San Luis Obispo at 8PM. It's been a loooooong weekend...

Having a major problem with Dynax 7

Let me assure you guys that 100% of -everything- else works fine. I've shot 13 rolls of film in the past week, and every single frame looks fine. The only thing that does _not_ work is autofocus. It is otherwise a fully-operational camera.

Having a major problem with Dynax 7

gah, I hate eyestart...never used it and yes, it was working flawlessly up until a week ago. It's not some random setting causing trouble. Something _died_.

Having a major problem with Dynax 7

I have tried with my entire gamut of lenses; Minolta OEM 20mm 2.8, 28 2.8, 50 1.4, 100 2.8, 200 2.8 and 24-105 AFD 3.5-4.5. All identical problems. And I tried cleaning the contacts in the Maxxum 7's body.

Having a major problem with Dynax 7

Hey guys, I'm having a huge problem with my 7's autofocus. Here are the details: When I depress the shutter button halfway, instead of quickly autofocusing on my target, the little square lights up red as usual and the lens just barely moves. I have to click about 5 times for it to finally...

Who here still shoots primarily film?

and don't forget that there's much more to film than 35mm; there's the medium formats (645 (6x4.5cm) to 6x17cm) and then 4x5 negs up to 11x14, and some poeple even shoot 20x24 (inches, sorry for the stupid American standard) polaroids. Go figure. Anyway, while digital backs are available for...
