    Any backpacks recommendation?

I use the older Fastpack 200 and I really like it. It's comfortable to carry, holds everything you mentioned easily, and I configured it so that I can remove the flash and my other lens without having to unzip it all the way, after I've removed the camera. There's a mesh pocket for carrying a...

Can the 70-200 f2.8 IS MkII be used for Food Photography?

I can recommend a rental store near me, but that may not be very helpful since I'm not in Singapore :) If you're renting to test out the focal length / framing, there's no need to pick (for example) the 70-200 f/2.8L IS - the f/4 without IS is a lot less expensive, and have the same minimum...

What Camera would typical Amateur Photographers upgrade to for next level ??

It's been a few years since I last visited ClubSnap. I see that the forum members are still eager to spend other people's money :) I highly recommend the xxD / 7D for their ergonomics improvement over the xxxD / Rebel. Once you're familiar with the layout, it requires fewer button pushes to get...

Can the 70-200 f2.8 IS MkII be used for Food Photography?

Yes, you are correct. Place a ruler 12 inches from the focal plane (indicated by the circle with line through it on the pentaprism bulge), focus as close as the camera will go manually, and you will see 35mm of marking through the viewfinder. I'd post a picture, but it's not exactly inspiring...

    Unusable tripod and remote control

You got good advice in the previous posts, which I can sum up: 1. Tripod is the wrong tool for this job. 2. If you need a tripod, get a good one. I'm not sure what you mean regarding "I tried turning and turning the DSLR into the female screw hole" - the female screw hole is on the...

Canon owners: which lenses do you own?

Actually, with X # of "affordable" lens / body combinations, and Y # of camera owners, and Y much bigger than X, I'm willing to bet that there are multiple people with the same lineup. Even more so when you consider the # of people with only the kit lens. Heck, I have a lineup that rates...

Canon owners: which lenses do you own?

Are you asking us to brag about what lenses we have, or want our opinion on the 55-250? :bsmilie: Personally I think the lens is worth it (and as pointed out by others, there's only one version). Image quality wise, it is decent, and it has enough zoom to make it useful, and is inexpensive...

Internet Trolls - The negative instigators

Sort of related : There's this song by College Humor, that basically sums up what many forums are about. It has some offensive language, so I won't post a link, but if you're interested, search for it. It's called "We Didn't Start The Flame War". Personally I thought it's hilarious.

    Which primes are good?

Why not ask yourself what focal lengths you need first? Is the 24-70 range sufficient? Do you need a longer lens? Wider? What's your budget? Otherwise you're just going to get a listing of all the L primes over here.

    Get Shutter Count for 40D

Canon (and likely other) cameras pick up the highest sequence # if you insert a used memory card into it, if the highest sequence # is higher than the current sequence # in your camera. It makes it really easy to screw up the continuous sequence #. Even if you just insert the card and...

The curry looks tilted - probably camera angle, but looks to me like it's going to spill :) What's the second item - dhosai?

Bringing DSLR to Europe during winter season

While searching about how cold, also read up on condensation when bringing cold camera into warm humid environment. By the way, Europe covers a very wide climate range.

<grumpy> - Live to eat or Eat to live?

OK, finally something I don't feel like eating when I next visit Singapore :bsmilie: No fault of the photo, just something I feel queasy about eating. I like how you use the spoon to lift the meat out of the soup. I have to remember details like that when I'm shooting.
