don't worry man! won't don't need much. use some of your creativity is enough.
but be sure you are good in panning, tilting, master your flash etc.. no need technique one.

i think this is the case and it's the same for D70 and D80/D200. it's almost like a warning system to remind the photographer to either use tripod or bump up the ISO.
you can get the same 67mm only when using the slim nikon CPL. For those normal CPL (thicker) you need to get a bigger diameter eg. 72mm or 77mm to avoid vignetting (and use step up ring). dump that kenko... i read it acts more like a ND filter.
get B+W or nikon CPL.

good photographers charge a good fee for their shoot. good models better get good photographers to enhance their portfolio. budding photographers also need good models for their portfolio. Unless models are deemed suitably photogenic, even budding photographers might not want to do the TFCD...
if the guy is already wearing a G-shock for so many years. perhaps he is just not a watch person.. maybe he prefers something that can withstand the wear and tear of daily usage. maybe it would make him feel too tacky for wearing an expensive watch. why not sound him out for his taste/opinion...
if you do shoot into the light at times, you will see that the 70-200 exhibit flares.
hence optical quality wise, AFS70-200/2.8VR is <99% of the AFD80-200/2.8
however, 'he who has money will not reject VR and AF-S' will continue to hold true.
