    Photography Books to Recommend?

I have read 'Understanding Exposure' but find the info a bit too old, although the theory is still applicable today to digital camera. "The Digital Photography' by Scott Kelly is much more updated and full of tips. In fact, every page is a tip. Each tip is like instructions from a shooting buddy...

    Ipod Mini

i want to get one myself. A friend of mine bought a set of five (diff colours) so that he can get it on 24th July, otherwise have to wait a bit longer. I don't listen to music so much, this is not something I need but something I want. We live only once!

    ibook or powerbook or others?

the new ibook is good enough for most purposes if you don't intend to edit movies big time and happy with just the combo drive, i.e. cannot burn DVD. You can order ibook with superdrive but I heard it doesn't perform well. Powerbook is more hardy, my frd who is more than 85kg sat on my 12" PB...

    70-300ED(4.5-5.6), 70-300G(4.5-5.6) or 28-200G(3.5-5.6)?

I bought the 70-300 ED lens few weeks ago, SGD630 from Cathay Photo while Max Photo (Wan Ling) was quoting SGD625. The G lens cost around SGD285. The focusing of the ED lens is slow and given a choice would have bought something with F2.8. Not sure fast enough for you to take planes or not...

    Degree in Photography

I doubt NUS has one, NTU has photojournalism as under SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION & INFORMATION. To get admission to a reputable school, a portfolio might help. JermsDayout, does your friend have a decent portfolio?

Good job! No 1 is good, No 2 is great - excellent expression, can really feel the mood of subject. You have uncropped version of No.3?

    Jean

I like No 5 & 8. She looks great in upper-half-body shots. 7 and 11 looks weird with legs opened. Keep shooting.

Need advice on getting Nikon D70

If you are thinking of taking street shot, 50mm may not be long enough. The 18mm-70mm should be more suitable. I was using the 18-70mm on D70 to shoot people in Beijing last month, generally ok but on certain occassion, I wished I had up to 105mm. Shooting at 50mm is likely to be make the...
