    Unwanted patched work!

    1. hdr/ tone mapping would tame the high contrast. 2. wait for cloud cover. 3. drive to another spot. other methods are not logistically possible for a single person: 1. set up an overhead butterfly (basically a silk like cloth fasten to a big frame and positioned over the subject)...

    Claire @ Ang Siang Hill

just to add on, don't be afraid to clone out stuff like the stop sign+lamp post in no.3. (unless you're against touch-ups.) also, be aware of lines that touch the model (tangents in composition). unless you want to create a specific effect. especially so for wide angles, since as you...

    [night86mare] Vietnam 2009

Nice series. Enjoyed it. An alternative view on this shot (no.6); Have you considered cropping the sky and focusing on the stark contrast of the rocks and the water?

    Food photography

short of changing another lens, you could just crop it tighter in post. i'm assuming this is for personal use/website.. so i doubt you'll need the full resolution. another method is mount the cam on a tripod, stop down to f11 or f16, frame the shot, set focus manually to min. focus, do a long...

Reliable STRAP for cameras up to 10kg

video cams usually have their own straps. Otherwise, its brands like porta brace, petrol, kata that provides bags and accessories. Or beach road to get them to sew replicates, but material and comfort might not match. when you think about it, sometimes its better to just fork out the hundred...

    Ropes

looking at the pictures. I would think exposing for backlight, playing with silhouette, profile shots... might be a possibility to bring out more mood.

I removed the AA filter from my 5D MkII

Might see more difference in Lab test shots. In your 'real world' photo comparison, it's hard to tell what attributes to the modification and not due to other variables like focus, back-focus alignment, quality difference of the AA filter vs the replacement glass, etc. As for white balance it...

Please help- can't view 5dmkII Movies on PC

The video is compressed in H.264. Just use Quicktime would suffice. If you were to edit, there are a range of software available on the net - free to paid. VLC is touch and go for some people. In any case you'll need a pretty decent machine to view it in full quality without skipping frames.

    MediaCorp TVC Saving Gaia jittering?

It could be that they are shooting it with 5dmk2. converting 30fps to 25p or 50i for broadcast, might give the issue you're speaking about? wasn't really scrutinizing, so can't say for certain that it was a conversion issue.

    Continuous lighting setup for portraits

I would highly recommend you to get/borrow/rent flash units instead. With the distance needed to get even light coverage for 4 people full shot, I doubt the CFLs would be useful, unless you shoot at a really really high ISO. You might want to check if the CFLs are suitable for high speed...

    Problem when shooting flowers

Still can't quite put my finger on what you mean by the glowing light. I assume you understand how the image would look like with shallow depth of field. The out-of-focus outline of the flower is just that; an example of the depth of field, plus any lens aberrations (colour fringing, etc)...

    Photography with Continuous Fluorescent Lights

In studio situations, or in situations where time permits, I would think to reduce the flash power directly rather than by changing my lens f-stop. CFLs emit a fix amount of light - meaning they usually can't be dimmed, need to pull the light backwards or forwards to reduce intensity, or use...

I am restless and discontented at this stage

might i suggest what everyone has been suggesting to just push the usage of your existing gear to its limits. tripod shots often tend to work towards a slower shooting pace. nothing good or bad / right or wrong. lugging around a tripod and a long lens tend to be tiring and may put off people...

    Car Rig

ignore if you have already done car-rig scenes before. --------------------------------------------------- car rigging takes time per setup, so budget for it. camera size, weight matters. know what shots you want and see if your rig can support. plan for back up in case of bad/...
