Zoom H1

I know Headshotx uses the Zoom H1 as a recorder for a Rode VideoMic, this allows uncompressed audio recording. Am I right?

hi i have a H1 as well.

it has 2 recording audio files
1)WAV (uncompressed)
2) mp3 (compressed).

im looking for 2 things too...

1) the hotshoe (u guys said orient photo has it?)
2) the furryhead windscreen.

I'm in the market for a audio recorder and have looked at the Olympus LS-10 but at over $300 it is quite expensive. The Zoom H1 looks like a good alternative at $126. But I've got a question regarding the Zoom H1.

Is there a local distributor that we can go to if the device were to malfunction or something?

Does the device come with a warranty?

Citymusic is the disty. they can handle. They are distributing the Zoom at Cathay and Hung Bros. H1 is pretty nice for what it does.

Well just purchased the Zoom H1 from City Music for $126.

Didn't buy the accessories pack, couldn't justify paying close to $30 for those few items.

So I bought my own accessories from Daiso and Mustafa. Bought a windscreen ($1.80 probably can be bought for less), a small tripod and a wrist strap.

Where did you buy the foam windscreen? Is it the standard type for karaoke mics ('ice-cream cone' type)?

Bought it from Mustafa Centre in their Hi-Fi/TV section. Yes it is the karaoke mic type but it fits just fine.

And it's available in blue too.

H1 users beware! The Zoom H1 supplies a small voltage through its mic-in port to power external electret microphone. This voltage cannot be turned off and may cause a hum in your dslr recording if you have your DLSR indirectly connected to the H1's mic port by way of a splitter. The H2 has a function to disable this driving voltage and is a better choice it you are sharing audio feed between an external Zoom recorder and your DSLR.
