Okay, i went to Hung brothers this afternoon, service was so-so and a little fierce, but i guess its okay, as they know the stuffs and quite efficient as well.

So what i bought at hung brother?

Audio Technica ATR 3350 -- $43 bargain to $40

Some additional purchase that will be useful, you guys might wanna consider.

Went to a indian shop that sells all the small adapters and wire
Vey useful stuff to manipulate on Zoom h1
Male to 2 male wire at $5
Male to male wire at $3

ONE FINAL QUESTION I HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME OUT!

After i plug in the zoom h1 to my canon 7D, it captures both from the on-board mic and the h1. How to remove the on-board mic sound recording?

Hope this infomation is useful, thanks!

acemote, u sure the onboard sound of the 7D gets captured? Should be only the external mic sound which is the H1.

Do u see a different audio levels for the both channels on the timeline? MY H4 has no problems getting straight into the 5D2.

Ya man! I tried tapping on the onboard 3 hole mic, is when i play back i can hear the tapping noise.

Maybe i could borrow a H4n to try out. But hope someone out there has similar issues or has a way to solve it!

Oh could it be the cable i use? I bought a male to male cable, do i need a specify cable?

how far was the H1 away from the onboard mic? Its possible the tapping sounds gets into the mic. U can try rubbing the H1 instead.

As for the cable, I use a -25dB cable as the signal from H4 is too "hot" for the 5D. You can try blasting music and see if there is clipping in the 7D vs the H1. BTW I saw the H1 at Cathay too at the same price.

Hey bro! thanks for the help, its hard to find helpful people around to kick start my video gears.

For cable wise, i totally know nuts, and found out that i am still lacking mono-stereo adapter, and also my male-2female is not a mono-2mono!!!! haiyo..... So must head down to sim lim to find again!

by the way 25bd cable is there any diff from the normal cable? Whats the purpose?

And also do you now of any "wire" shop that use all these cables?

Thanks!

No prob Acemonte :) there is a PAD cct built into the cable. Btw I did a H1 test alr. The ext n int mic doesn't mix. The easiest test is to plug in a cable and do a recording. Hear no sound and u know it's then external only.

That pinknoise cable is expensive. Worth it if you really need the audio from the cam mic.

Acemonte - there is an option in your camera menu to disable audio recording. But I highly recommend leaving it on because you never know when you'll need the cam mic audio/as back-up audio. Also, you would need that audio to sync up audio in editing right? Unless you want to match frame by eye....

Thanks guys for your help!!

I tried again, this time round it works!!! phew!!!

Now i need to find a place to get my mono to stereo adaptor if not the audio for my plug in mic will be only one-sided!

And the windscreen for Zoom H1 are so hard to in Singapore!!! The cheapest is $50 over!

Buy some teddy bear fur from Art Friend/Spotlight and DIY your own "dead cat" (in the H1's case: make that a dead rat"

I just ordered this from Ebay:

They also have a cheaper version:

The one I ordered has 2 nuts. 1 to tighten the H1, the other to tighten the shoe. Will let you guys know how it works out.

Hi,
did you buy the pinknoise cable online. How much is the shipping to Singapore? I don't suppose there's any in Singapore for sale?

thanks

got it off ebay.. its pretty exp! But frankly i do not use it much. But it is very useful during controlled situations.

I don't know if this has already been answered but the problem isn't your 5DII and it's not recording once the H1 takes over for it.

The problem is the H1, it's recording along with the Audio Technica. So what you need to do is turn the h1 off, and only have it pickup sound through the ATR.

Hope this helps..
Adam

P.S. Have two H1's and an H4n that I've been trying to sell, but after using the H1's I'm really reconsidering letting the H4n go, as it's really so much better and more functional. Does anyone else feel this way about the lack of quality from the H1? It really seems like a glorified sound recorder with mic inputs, something you could pickup for far less then the $140 most shops are selling it for.

I am also starting to fix my H4n on my D90. So far no projects with this combination yet. IF anyone is interested to produce something together, let me know? I am not concerned on who is behind the camera or who owns the product. Just experimenting.
