Hi, may I know which camera are you using? Cos some of the skin colours are too pale. Just my 2 cents of thoughts.

Fuji S5... the metering giving mi some problem....

when I use the body to meter It would usually be 1.5 stop under... Had to do manual metering... But my D200 got no such problem... I koe to meter must input data to the cam... But after doin it stil under... Anyone can help?

I am also using a Fuji S5 Pro and a 85mm f1.4 ZF, and I don't have such issue.

I switch to spot-metering mode whenever I use the 85mm on portraiture. Don't ask me why. Just an old habit of mine die-hard.

By the way, the skin tone colors of your images are all wrong (sorry.... I just can't stand looking at skin tone colors that are wrong). I did a quick-and-dirty color correction.

Thats strange. Cos I do not experience such problem as well using my voigtlander 58mm.

the skin tones are off. For me, I find once I keep the white walls white & calibrate the skin tones correctly ( through white balance & personally - red & blue adjustments ), the rest of the colours in the photo become more zeiss-like. .

colours aside, good pic! If she was looking down at her nokia phone, think u can sell it to nokia for profit and buy some more ZF lenses.

I'll be in Singapore at the end of September.
What would be a good shop to buy ZF100/2 and ZF35/2?
Any idea of the prices?
Do they come with an international waranty of 1 or 2 years?
Cheers,
Claude

Well Zeiss lust has struck me again. I've added the Macro 100 f/2 and I am thrilled. Learning to accurately focus is a bit challenging at the moment but I've no doubt that in do time that can be mastered. Does anyone out there use "live view' for focusing. What are the pros vs cons regarding this technique.

Tony

good for "odd-angle" photography. less neck pain, thigh ache, back ache, cramped musles when doing macro or shooting children and babies at their height level. just hold camera outright and shoot.

cons - what cons?

Can someone explain if Zeiss ZF lenses can be used on the new D90 without the need to apply workarounds?

If I'm not wrong, you could use ZF lenses in full manual mode on cameras like the D80, D90, D60, etc, ie, no metering and no AF. For the D200, D300 series, you could get auto exposure (Aperture priority mode)once you set the parameters correctly in the camera.

Yes, u can use ZF lenses on camera like D40, D50, D70, D80, D90
however, the metering is not working.
u need u use Sunny F16 rules :D
it's really fun!

BTW, I use a Fuji S5 too with ZF 25mm and no metering issues at all. In fact, I think the Zeiss meters more accurately than some of my other Nikon lenses -- and definitely delivers more "punch" to the picture.

Here are a couple of recent shots taken in Ubud, Bali (matrix metering mode, jpeg, with minimal post-processing).

Came across a review of the new ZF 18mm -- not too flattering, it seems. "Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 18mm f/3.5 ZF showed somewhat mixed results in the field. The lens excelled in the center throughout the aperture settings on both full frame as well as APS-C cameras. However, border image quality was a little bit mixed, with f/3.5 and f/4 delivering somewhat softer results, and visually, there was a noticeable change in quality when going from the wide open aperture to f/8 or f/11... you should probably still look into a few alternatives before plunging that much money for the newly released Distagon T* 18m."

Would be interesting to compare it to the Nikon 14-24 2.8. From what I know, the old Distagon 21mm gives better IQ corner to corner...
