right now I'm dying to try out my new toy... Leica 80/1.4 Summilux R lens on Nikon D3X.
hopefully this saturday I can go out and shoot a model

jnet6, you are using a d700 with the 25 f2.8? Reading diglloyd, he says its difficult to focus with the 25 but not the 28. What is your personal experience? I'm using a d700 too, so i think its best i get your opinion as its first hand experience... sharpness with the 25mm how is it? diglloyd wasn't very keen on this lens, which is the reason i'm am thinking of the 28 instead. Though if the 25 is better that would be good news as its cheaper...

I'm not using with FX, but on DX.
So far I find it ok to focus for 25, haven't got chance to tried 28/2. so can't feedback on using against 28/2.

Only thing is to fine tune the viewfinder to get sharp image.

From all accounts I've read so far, and the samples I've seen, the ZF 21mm is an outstanding lens....and the ONLY one that matches the Nikon 14-24.

going overseas man and wanna do landscapes.. but the current 24 prime that i have is.. really not that optimized for landscapes.. getting soft other than the centre.. saw the 25/2.8 and that seems to be the way up... (given my budget la)

anybody got any comments on this?

Zeiss wide angle should be good. But for the existing prime can consider stop down to f5.6 or f8 should make the corner not so soft .........

stopped liao... it's comparable to my canon 24-70 in centre... slightly sharper i must say.. but in the corners the 24-70 actually is sharper than my nikkor 24/2. i guess it's really more optimized for PJ-style shots.. oh well..

I got it earlier this year and few days later i saw the lens was on sale... heart pain $$ gone.

damn envious man of the sharpness.. damn good for landscapes. next step up can only be the canon 24L... which costs quite a lot more..
