Today going around to shop for a cost efficient super zoom solution to compliment my super cheapo 14mm-45mm len on E330 (just bought at Jurong Courts 3weeks ago at $799).

After 3 phone calls, the Parisilk sales person told me that their 70mm-300mm stock is very limited and selling price is S$542 with GST. When I quoted the price of $521 found in the earlier post, he just gave a plain answer that he was not aware of any discount.

On my way home, happened to pass by AMK. So I dropped by at MS Colour to check out the price for 70mm-300mm. The Uncle quoted me S$599 with 2 free filter. The pricing is consistent.

After much talking & many phone call to his boss, finally managed to get the len w/o filter at S$542. After checking the len, everything looks fine. He promises to do 1-to-1 exchange if anything wrong with the len after I tried on my camera over this weekend. Good service attitude & friendly service:)

So where did you get it from? MSCOLOR? KNN uncle gave me one filter lol.

With Parisilk, you really do have to go there and ask them personally for the price. The boss can give a better discount than the staff. ;)

The zoom ring is abit stiff. The len is just ok under cloudy condition as we have anticipated for a F4-5.6 len. Under good sunlight, we can expect good sharpness in pic w/o tripod.

Hi all.... just curious if the locally sold 70-300mm lens are made in Japan or China?

70-300mm seems available at Bally Photo Funan for like $540. Probably able to bargain some if you want. I got mine already =p *waving a tiny MIJ flag*

ha...u got hold of the lens already..:)

after seeing so many example of this lens...mayb times for birding...

I think it'd make a superb birding lens. I realize I cannot use it at max telephoto to shoot full body cat portraits (too tight), which means it is tele enough to snipe sparrows. I will be trying that sometime...when the weather is a bit more friendly.

Speaking of birding... *silly grin* http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-650-1300mm-Telephoto-Teleconverter-Olympus/dp/B000J3ADUK

I have read review on it and it sucks..lol

What do you expect from a f8-16? The broad side of a barn may move before the exposure's done. That's why I'm quite impressed that the 70-300mm is f4-5.6 even with a 58mm thread. I mean even the 42mm end of my 14-42 is f5.6. Hmm...but one should note that the 70-300 is rather a bit slower to AF than the old 40-150. I suspect it is due to the longer travel of a macro lens. As such, I'll be keeping the 40-150 for snappy shots.
