Hai steel,
I got mine for RM 1450 ( AROUND S$750 )......All in one Walkabout Lens and it's a good one. Still find it hard to post here, will post some at PHOTOMALAYSIA......Thanks....James.

Hi jjmoh,
Thanks. Just want to check how the distributor quote the selling price outside Japan. You see, I just went for my vacation in Tokyo and the selling price there is too tempting to resist even though one may not need it. In the end I can't fight the demon inside me and..... I bought it at 40000 yen...

actually...if you look at the range covered, the closer comparison will be

ZD 70 - 300mm vs ZD 90 - 250mm

&

40 - 150mm vs 50 - 200mm

:bsmilie:

Not really..

ZD70-300mm vs 50-200+EC14 would be the closest but cost...eek!!!!

Wonder if the image quality of the 50-200 + EC14(70-280) would still surpass that of the new ZD70-300?

Three day pass and this len is still in my dry cab untouch.

But if anyone really knows how to make use of this len, I'm willing to let go. Just take it as doing someone a favour by bring back from japan.;)

Hi all. Thanks for those who show interest. Too many pm already so i will post here instead.

I bought this len on 26/10 in Japan at 40000 yen (got receipt to prove it). It comes with worldwide warranty and English manual. I have opened up the box and put the len in my dry cab and never use it before since day one.
I'm letting go at $600 ( I use credit card to purchase so not sure how the bank will charge me the currency rate).
As I'm not making profit or urgent to let go, I want hazzle free when letting go this len.
I stay at pasir ris and any transaction will be done after 7pm before this weekend.

Pls sms me at 96623423.:)

lol, that's fast, wonder when will this lens reach here

I feel sad. It is an OEM product from Sigma.
Olympus claimed that 4/3 optics is specialized for digital, but it introduce quite a lot Sigma lenses copied from traditional optics.

There're two explanations:
1. Traditional lens is good enough for 4/3
2. Olympus downgrade its standard.

Recently a rumor has developed in which some are claiming that the Olympus consumer lenses are being built by another company, some have claimed it could even be Sigma. So when I received the 70-300mm announcement I asked them this question. Here is the response:

Olympus started out as an optical company in the early 1900’s.
We were the first to introduce the microscope to Japan in 1920 and also the
first optical device to look inside the human body in 1952, the
gastrocamera.
Prior to launching the E-1 a state of the art facility was built in Asia to
produce our E series optics.
All of the optics in the E system are of our own design. We take a lot of
pride in that point.
Lately, I’ve been reading the test comparisons between the kit lenses for
some of the competitive products vs. our kit lenses like the 14-42 and
40-150mm. Seems our consumer kit lenses easily out preform the competition
in the same category.
The quality of the glass is a critical component to the entire system so
it’s good to know that Olympus doesn’t skimp even on those lenses designed
for consumer use.

hey, dun matter if its made by oly or sigma, if its a zuiko lens, its still gonna be pretty darn good. :) even if it were an OEM from sigma, im sure oly wouldn't sacrifice lens quality.

Just got my 70~300mm today. A friend helped me to buy it in Japan, Osaka. Price is 37,000 Yen.

It's made in Japan! Will post some sample pics soon!
