Here is what happened. I had the cam on a tripod and was doing a panorama of the sunset. Had the AEL on and a timer for the shutter release. Since I was using the Mode A for viewing, I did not shutter lock. Set the zoom to around 35-40mm, focus and shutter release. The cam did an auto focus and the zoom ring moved!!! I did not notice that!!!!. then turn the cam slightly and again I press the shutter. Again it moved!!! Aaaagghhh!!!!!! I had to HOLD stupid zoom ring!!! Don't have such a problem with the 11~22 but this stupid 14-45 really beep (censored)!!!
...and since then a roll of Scotch tape is part of the equipment.;)

Blu, I am sorry for you, your problem seems to be bigger than mine was with the old lens. Even if my old one was much looser than my new one not even the old one moved the zoom while focusing. But yes as cjtune says, it is a quality issue. Too bad the quality is so un-even. My recomandation is to take it back and try to change it but definitely to let them fix it because it is not supposed to be that loose. I understand your anger.

Hey blu never take thing to the heart...everything is taken with a pinch of salt. :D hehehehe.."a roll of Scotch tape " why did I not think of that??:embrass:

Was at Oly earlier to complain...they cleaned up the excess grease inside..but still the same only slightly better...but still moves during focusing. gave up on them...(service tech)..hopefully it falls apart before the warranty is up then I get a new one...another 6 months to go.
