indesign? your colleague might need to know more about the template design or look more for publishing design type of reference.

btw words or writer is actually good enough for these type of design provided that you know how to effectively use them......

i am very proficient with calc's formulas but not with writer or words! ;p

yes, we use Indesign for magazine layout. however like what jim suggested you can use any word processing software to do text layout. sometimes we use powerpoint for layout too.

if its a one/two page newsletter, just keep it simple. just use word or ppt. no need to get those professional softwares. overkill.
