Currently using the following on my 7D cropped:
- 11-16mm
- 17-50mm OS
- 50mm 1.8
- 70-300mm VC USD
4 different brands, 4 different ranges (ok the cheapie fifty overlaps the 17-50, but hey, it's more for low-light indoors)
Think this about covers everything that I ever wanted to shoot, with the 17-50 as a natural walkabout.
Serves sufficiently for my amateur hobbyist needs. =)

I only use 70-200mm f4L (most of the time), Tokina 12-24mm and some time my 50mm f1.8II and thats it.

As my signature has it... I only have 1 L lens , but I have many many red rubber bands so, I tie the red rubber bands to my other lens, hehehehe...

Congrats on your baby to come! Well, until my baby started to walk, i found most lenses suitable. It's when they start running around that things get harder.

Would have liked to upgrade my 70-200/4 for this one but will most likely use the $$ saved to upgrade to FF--the f/4 will be more tolerable on FF compared to my 550d
