Your First Shots of 2006 with KM Gear

Since Sulhan had a "Last 12 hours", I thought I might start a "First Shot of 2006" ;p
Can be anything to remember by, ur first shots with ur KM Gear in 2006, etc.

My 1st shoot of 2006 was used to see how my TC and extention tube I bought 2H would work with my Tamron SP AF200-500mm Di LD (IF) at max zoom when the max aperture would be f6.3. It was not a good day to do so because of bad weather. Glad to report that even in poor light, AF still works in wide (but not in spot or multi-point). However, though substantially slower and sometimes signals focus lock when still oof, it is still fast enough to track birds in flight. Whilst I will keep the TC for desperate times, I guess I got to continue to look for a Minolta APO or Tamron SP TC.

Yup. The rain and grey skies we have been having recently is not good for bird shoots but I needed to try out the TC. Also, I needed practice exposing a subject with contrasting black and white colours so went to Sg Buloh, hoping for a break in the weather but

tokrot your pics looks oversharpened... did u change the settings on the camera or do USM in PS?

Here are 2 pixs from my first photo outing for 2006. Shot very few pixs because didn't load in fresh bty and also didn't bring spare bty :mad2:

Shot with 7D, KM28-75(D)

Shot with KM 80-200 HS (G)

Is it? I did a two stops in-camera and a stop with picasa II. Probably the 17-35mm is abit too sharp. Will step down abit.. Other thing is that the Picasa II tends to oversharpen too much.


I have redone them in PS CS instead. How are the new pics?

I hope the new pics look better.

Didn't know that... thought prayer time was sacred or something like that...;p
